Its not where they are from , its their mentality. The point is tho, you usually don't have to go out of state for most kids. Also you should not pass up SO FL kids for kids with comparable talent at the same position.

80% of the roster should be from south Florida. You save the other 20% for the elite players in other states. Half of Miami's best players ever hailed from states not named Florida. It's a long list which is why we shouldn't bd so closed minded in thinking we can sign 25 guys from south Florida every and expect to win a championship. We have to add to the south Florida recruit base with elite talent from elsewhere. It's a proven method that has worked in the past.

Boy you done lost your mind. I-95 to I-4 to I-75. The you poach when good players from the live oak Suwannee area all the way over to Duval. Then you recruit Louisiana GA, & Texas. Northeast Jerz & Pa. Then California last only if needed type situation. If it ain't "BROKE" then don't fix it bro..k..e ;-)

I'm not concerned with Richt's ability to recruit. I feel like he's going to focus on local recruits and he already has more credibility that Golden ever had with local coaches.

I'm not judging him at all on this year because his main job is to try and keep the guys we have committed and if he sees some as not being worthy of an offer than I'm glad he's making room. I don't agree with Phillips being pushed out as I think he's a fantastic athlete and a kid you get in here and find a way to get the ball in his hands. With that said Richt has a lot more experience recruiting than any of us here so I'll trust his judgement.

For the people saying he needs to hurry and hire coaches you're full of ****. He needs to make sure he get's the right guys hired rather than rushing things and getting more inferior coaching. We have witnessed what bad coaching can do to a team over the last 10 years, we need great coordinators and position coaches to get us back on top.

I'm building a database of Richt's recruiting while at Georgia and thus far he follows this blueprint pretty well.

Money will be happy to know he's turned some two and three star kids into NFL players as well. He's also not shy about cutting players if they aren't getting it done and taking grade risks.

This formula worked before youtube, hudl, 7on7,optimist,
recruiting services etc. The days of plucking half your class out of the sugar cane fields because they can chase rabbits fast while having big butts is over. There are way too many field tested proven athletes to be taking more than 3-4 under the radar athletes a year. Miami doesnt need to be a TCU type, we need to be a USC.

Butch Butch Butch. A lot of slobbering over a guy who never won ****. I would put Richt's record up against Butch any day.

How do people down-vote this post?

Because he mentioned Butch and described in detail what made him such a great talent evaluator.

It's a proven fact that he knew what he was doing and the proof is in the pudding.

The Butch hate is hilarious. If we follow the blueprint we can't fail. But to our new school fans it's always better to bash the old and slurp the new.

By the way, great analysis, D! Spot on!

Exactly!!!!

All you have to do is look at the list of ncaa champions the last 14 years to know that a blueprint of taking underrated players and turning them into champions is an antiquated formula. OSU, FSU, Bama, Auburn, Florida, Texas, USC, LSU. Thes schools all have one thing in common and thats getting the highest rated players and coaches from all around the country.

D, have you heard anything lately on Newbold? I haven't heard or seen much. Id like to add him to the class if we aren't getting Phillips.

Nope, but I saw he had another tiptoe back of the endzone TD in the All-Star game. Very talented receiver.

Ya I saw that too. Lol that's actually what reminded me about him. Been so quiet around his recruitment.

D$, any chance Newbold has potential to be CB prospect on the next level?

More coach speak. Jimmy. Johnson once said."Don"t show me high school film until you tell me the height and speed of a prospect." He went on to say that those were the two things that he couldn't coach. He didn't want to be influenced by high school film.

DMoney, you are way off base. You know absolutely nothing about Jamie Gordinier. All you know is that he is from NJ. Seriously, why would you put down a kid if you don't know them. I watched this kid all throughput his HS career and he is legit. BTW...many great linebackers have come from NJ. Nobody is more physical. Nobody will be bigger. He is 6'4 238 and still thin. Tom Lemming (who actually knows his stuff and doesn't just drool over kids because they are from FL, compared him to Luke Keuchly (you probably think he sucks because he wasnt from Florida???).
Every ACC team wanted this kid and fought to the end to get him to switch. Some of the best D Coordinators around wanted him. Ask Narduzzi what he thinks about Gordinier. Ask Ash from OSU that just became the Rutgers coach. Best D Coordinator in the ACC is Don Brown. Gordinier would have been the focus of his defense. C'mon, get your facts straight. I have no problem when guys give their opinions on who should start, and who they like but when random people put a kid down it is unfortunate. Let the kid play.
BTW....Gordinier was going to start at MIKE the Duke game and when Golden was fired, the coaches made a smart decision to redshirt him and give him 4 years with a new stafff. The kid is versatile. You watch, he will be competing with Owens for SAM linebacker this season. He is exactly what you want in a SAM linebacker: length, nose for the ball, excellent in pass coverage, and quick as a pass rusher. Swasey went nuts when this kid was measured for his official visit last year. Had the longest wingspan of any Linebacker since he has been there at 6'9. Have you ever seen the kid dunk? Kid is an athlete.

I didn't mean to down Gordinier at all. He is going to be a quality college football player. I hesitated to even use the example because I didn't want to come off disrespectful.

My point was that, for Miami, you should only leave the state for freaks. I don't see Gordinier as having the freakish level of athleticism. That doesn't mean that he isn't a talented P5 football player. Actually, I think he's better than a lot of the kids we have signed lately.

Hello, Mrs. Gordinier.

Bro look at his tape it's exactly like Njoku both were dominate in their area on both sides of the ball. People forget Gordnier played hback/te and ran the ball some he's athletic bro.

The only difference is Njoku is playing the offense side. Gordnier is going to play someway somehow on defense next year. I wouldn't be surprised if Richt ran a 3-4 and use him like jarvis jones at georgia with his hand on the ground or standing up. He tackles well and has the instincts...

Yall know a playmaker when you see one. He can do a lot of good things if used right. Why I want Richt to get greedy and add uche & brock Miller to the up coming class with the savages we have now.

They're versatile so they can play LB or DE a win win if you ask me. Look at toolbox trent. Most underrated defense of player on the team this year. Great instincts never out of position tackles well and made the transition to LB in a week and still played exceptionally well. Just fill the defense with athletic savages and we're good to go. Defense wins championships
