Why have we been so slow moving on TE. The position is lacking compared to rest of offense overall. Is the coach just not good at recruiting? The kid out west looks a couple years off and the chicago kid was playing po lil timmy every week on film, maybe he is ready or it takes time to adjust to big time ball. Portal had some decent options but we have neglected addressing the issue, TE coach might not know what a "Miami TE" room should look like honestly.

I've asked about 5 times over the past few weeks what the TE coach is good at but either people don't know or he's just a waste of space. The room has regressed badly under him. Maybe he hekps recruit other positions well?

Yikes, pretty rough read. This reads like "It doesn't look good but let's trust the staff based off prior 2-3 years." The portal closes in 3 days... not going to see a ton of movement at this point.

Even if he doesn't get a Day 2 grade, if we win a Natty, he should go. Nothing else to prove at that point, legacy cemented. RBs have short shelf lives.
Pre-NIL you’re 100% correct. But not now - it actually makes more business sense to stay in school. You’re likely getting paid similar to what a Day 2 pick would be making and not taking starting level NFL caliber hits yet.

Maybe the program is in a place where this small number of transfers is possible. I sure as **** do not believe that so I don’t understand what is going on.

We were commited to winning the last 2 years in portal. Went crazy both years stacking talent/depth…. The results followed.

I don’t feel we are commited to winning next year with what we are doing in the portal and I’m not even talking about qb when I say that

I'm not understanding the hate on woodiel(sp)....he has gotten 2 te committed 3yrs in a row.....the recruiting is there! now, production isn't the te coaches fault....maybe Dawson or there just not ready!!....carver, williams, schott, gilbert, bauman, nickel, briggs, mueller! Recruiting isn't the problem!!!

Turned a 7th rounder in #1 pick, rebooted another QB's career and got us into a NC game, made $20M, boosters have to tripping over themselves right now to give Mario what he wants, program is back to prominence and we have 4 portal commits and not a lot left? Someone make it make some sense please. Not criticizing the staff just bit bizarre.

I’m no insider or talent scout like many on this board, but those recruits mentioned in this thread are going to be dudes here one day

We talked about the defense yesterday, but here is the latest on Miami's offensive strategy in the Transfer Portal.

- I don't get the sense it's Ty Simpson or bust. They are working multiple angles at quarterback and it's obviously the main focus other than winning the sixth national championship. I'm expecting the unexpected.

- I previously thought Josiah Thompson (South Carolina) would be in this class, but it appears we may be moving in another direction. One possibility is adding a guard and moving Matt McCoy to tackle.

- The expectation remains that Mark Fletcher, Jr. returns to school. If he does, I wouln't anticipate major changes in the running back room.

- Both receiver commits (Vandrevius Jacobs and Cam Vaughn) appear locked in despite the uncertainty at quarterback. The staff is ecstatic about both.

- I expect Miami to continue to monitor the Portal for an impactful TE. While a pure blocking TE is an option, don't be surprised to see even more unbalanced lines to take advantage of the Canes' deep stable of young offensive linemen.

- The early freshmen arrivals look the part. One source said, "I'm glad Somourian Wingo is on scout team and not on Indiana." He's had some big days. Some other names mentioned were Jackson Cantwell, Keyshawn Stancil, Camdin Portis, and JJ Dunnigan. "These guys look freakier than the guys preparing to play for a national championship."
-I would love to know who they are really pursuing, now that Leavitt is off the board, and Simpson seems to be NFL bound..

I tend to agree here..... I was expepecting alot more incoming portal players. The portal basically closes in 3 days!

This. Make that NIL money as long as you can, unless you're a guaranteed top 20 Rd 1 pick.
