That's a good follow up.
If they're trying to find the best 5, why did 5 guys play ALL 70 snaps against WF? Especially once they started playing poorly. Seems like a wasted opportunity.

SJ can hit the fuccin portal today. I don't care how many stars he had or that he went to Bishop Canary High School. He's small asf and he stinks at playing OL.
Max needs more practice. If he gets Wally Pipped byCongdon and Cantwell, too bad. We don't do participation trophies any more.
I've been hearing about Chase Smith for 6 years now. He's mid asf. Toure will knock your teeth out and plays with heart, but he's not much better than me in coverage and I suck at covering.
I've never felt more alarmed and upset after a 2 TD win than I do right now.

You say the younger guys would look good for a couple snaps then whiff on the third. Well Rodriguez and SJ get their **** pushed in every snap so I’d rather staple those two to the bench forever and play the younger guys.

It’s interesting data for sure (the twatter graphs). Can’t set aside my confirmation bias and/or bad memory and it felt like 1st half may have been some check downs contributing to those short throws or taking what was given. 2nd half turned into turtle mode. Be it that their D changed, we played scared or made poor decisions - the results were really really bad and most everything short felt forced.

I’d get that better if we wouldn’t have an expensive roster that really just needs some viable OL. We have two already and both are versatile enough to play multiple positions. So, you trust your development on maybe one or two spots, but go out and shore up the other two spots, at least. I’m a Kinsler guy from jump and I understand if he tried to squeeze the program for money, but ****, sometimes you just have to take it. Or, at least go tamper with another guy at a better ‘value.’ Feel like this could have been handled way differently.
We also turtled up and haven’t risked Cantwell over there at RT. Did we see something awful? Or, are we going with the tried and true ‘older guy is to be trusted more.’ Because, we I’ve been saying since Speing, McCoy may be a solid tackle, but he has taken 1000 reps at LG and we could have a top level left side.
Whole thing seems like two actual experts at their position/unit just bet on themselves and have not currently hit their bet.

Fair point. My impression watching the game was that the calls weren't materially different. I could be wrong.
Before the offense ground to a halt we had scored TDs on 4/6 drives and scored points on 5/6. I don't think there was any reason for Dawson to change the offense (since it was working so well!) and data points towards little changing WRT how we passed.
I think folks are doing hindsight bias/playing the result.

The true big concerns are the injuries at 1a and the interior OL at 1b. The injuries we cannot control but I hope the staff realizes the urgency of finding a better 5 on the OL. And I'm super annoyed by Marcelin injury. He was really flashing. Once he is ready we need to see Toure and Marcelin as the first LB pairing. Wiley or Bonner can fight for the right to play next to Chase. I am hoping we can get Lucas back for Clemson. If not, post bye week we gotta get Lucas, Jaboree, and Marcelin back for FSU.

Every coach values experience.
These guys actually play freshmen as much or more than any team in the country when you look at the snap numbers.
Doesn’t mean every decision is right, but I don’t see a systemic issue.
Just hate how we aren’t proactive. 2024 was CB. 2026 is oline and LB. Next year will be some other position. You can’t have fans on a message board seeing the voids in the roster before the coaches. Everyone knew this oline was a toss up. And right now it’s the bad side of the toss up. Should’ve used the Jacobs and Vaugh funds and have a Miami O line. But it’s a sunk cost. They gotta find a way to make it work now.
Seems like an easy choice between dominating 2/3 of the reps with the freshman (who will only get better with experience) vs. dominating 0/3 reps with SJ
I'll tell you one thing. Wake put out some VERY nasty film on us. Clemson will have a great gameplan for us. We'd better bring our A game.
No that is a guaranteed win and we only have to worry about Notre Dame. Did you miss the memo? We can afford injuries, not having an interior OL, etc. because our schedule is so weak and we don't have the penchant for dropping weird games even with a healthy roster under this staff.
