Nothing really surprising or earth shattering if you've been paying attention to these recruitment. The only one that would be a kick in the nuts would be cooper not committing. The rest of these guys are icing on the cake along with locking down what we have. The one thing that really stood out though is SMU upping their NIL package. If they start throwing money around from all that old oil money down there they could be a MAJOR player in just about anyone they want NIL wise.

I mean, Texas had top 5 classes when they were in the Big XII, they went to the SEC & are still getting top 5 classes, so what exactly changed?

First, the Big 12 with Texas and the Big 12 without Texas are two different conferences.

Second, if anyone thinks Miami dominates Florida recruiting circles the way that (U) Texas dominates Texas (state) recruiting circles, they are just nuts.

Third, Texas always offset any recruit-hesitancy with money. Lots of money.

Finally, this concept that Texas always had Top 5 classes in the Big 12 is not supported by the (composite) data:

2022 - 5
2021 - 15
2020 - 9
2019 - 3
2018 - 3
2017 - 25
2016 - 7
2015 - 10
2014 - 17
2013 - 17

nfl players sign multi year legal contracts...college kids can renegotiate or leave whenever they want... they may not be resentful (I have no idea) but if they were, their actions could be a lot more impactful than what an nfl player can do...

That's just a load of deflecting bull****. Because if your insightful analysis was correct, then the "more senior" players would only have to wait a year to renegotiate.

There are 18 and 19 year olds in MLB, the NBA, the NHL, and MLS. Somehow, the ONLY group of athletes on the planet who can't fathom free market economics are college football players.

Hilarious.

Quite the change in tune from a month ago as the potential number 1 class.

This is just an unserious program. We’ll land a few quality guys here and there and a Mauigoa/ cantwell type every 3rd year.

You have to get guys like Cooper by any means. Stop letting the JS get away.

Not only did the coaching staff fail to flip its top targets at the end of last season's cycle, other programs came in and flipped some our blue-chip talents (Nix, Stubbs). I realize those defections were due to an abysmal performance on defense and Guidry's impending departure. Unless Hetherman is a total disaster or there is attrition within the coaching staff, hopefully we retain the talent already on board.

Regardless, this isn't a great place to be. UM isn't going to hit on every target, but it feels as if everything is trending in a negative direction since the commitments of Spafford and Kennedy. And at this point, we all know Top 10 isn't good enough for Cristobal to succeed. Top 5 is an absolute must.

Worst bank ever.
J/k.
With the portlal. Just got to keep filling holes

@DMoney thanks for the updates as always … was wondering what guys we could target if it’s a in case of emergency break glass time if we can’t land most of these July kids we really want if that makes sense

Good ****, most fanboys on the board take everything that guy says verbatim hook line & sinker! Facts still matter, just cus something is articulated well dont mean not to research it !

More bleak than this Bank was Gaby’s Through The Smoke, jeez. Let’s not loose our **** on this stuff. Keep chopping, we have come a long way. Win and it all changes, we’re in a good spot entering camp. There is a season ahead and months before any of these kids sign. Perspective is important, these are battles with the top tears of CFB, at least we are now back in the conversation. For me, there really is only one kid that’s a non negotiable, must get, that’s Cooper. Battle hard there, make that one happen, have a great season and the rest of the dominos fall.

It would look the exact same as it does now.

Clemson during the Tommy Bowden era were a perennial 8-4 team, they weren't winning sh*t until Dabo showed up.

Mario is not a 1st year head coach coming into his first season at Miami, the whole narrative of having to recruit against a backdrop of 20 years of losing is a cop out excuse. He's been here for 4 years now & his first 3 seasons, he had one winning season, it's nobody's fault but his own.

Not Manny Diaz, not Mark Richt, not Al Folden, not Randy Shannon, not Larry Coker, not Butch Davis, not Dennis Erickson, not Jimmy Johnson & not Howard Schellenberger... Mario Cristobal is responsible for HIS team success & HIS recruiting.
Too much facts our fans keep pushing the goalposts back

@DMoney how much is last years defensive performance hurting with closing on the top end guys this year?

Or is it more about the money.

If you want any chance with these kids in December, and can't win them outright now... It does, unfortunately, make sense to not drive up your own price today.

I also agree that these commitments stick more today since kids feel the additional pressure of walking back dollars on the table versus just going back on their word and commitment.

Don't like it. Don't believe in it. But it's a plan I suppose.

Memnon has a lot of good analysis when he provides the detail and shows his math.

But when he generalizes things, he can be as full of crap as any other poster can be who doesn't research the numbers.
