Miami has to learn that DT is the second most important position in college (my view).

You simply don't see teams stink that are elite at DT.

I'd give ten Vance Spafford's for one 5-star home wrecker at DT.

SEC dominance remains on the DL.
Agreed. I think they know this but the 2025 class was a whiff. We added two likely rotational DTs who are freshman and Blay who I think can be something but tbd. In 2024, we made huge investments in Scott, Blount, and Jones. As well as Barrow. We desperately need those young guys to step up.

But yes, we need to pour major money into DT this year.

I think they know. Of the six five stars they've signed, three are 260+ defensive linemen. DTs are just hard to get.

James Johnson is from New Jersey so there isn't a big hometown advantage. It's a true battle.

Still working through that. Miami wants him bad and I think he wants to be a Cane.
What’s the hold up? He’s got the basketball offer now. Is he seriously considering fsu? Blowhard thinks they’re still in it.

- The Canes continue to push hard for DT/DE Bryce Perry-Wright (Buford, GA), DE Jaquez Wilkes (Wadley, AL), DE Anthony Jones (Mobile, AL) and DT Nolan WIlson (Picayune, MS). While many have focused on DT Freddie Wilson (Spruce Creek, FL) as an additional DT in the class, I think there's more of a chance that spot goes to Anthony Kennedy (Little Rock, AR). I'm not confident on DT Lamar Brown (Baton Rouge, LA) but hope I'm wrong there.

Kennedy is good news…Haven't heard his name in a while. Interesting.

Wilson definitely DT?

- Michigan commit CB Brody Jennings (Jacksonville, FL), S Devin Jackson (Orlando) and S Blake Stewart (Atlanta) remain the top targets at DB.

Are things trending down with Jackson and Stewart as others have reported @DMoney?

Then what's the hold up? NIL Money?

And let’s say no Lamar Brown, no James Johnson, no Anthony Jones. If we really thought we had the chance at all three, that means a high level dude at a position of need is getting a mega bag at the end of the cycle.

Topui at DT or a Davon Benjamin at S would be my dream for an end of cycle steal.
Well apparently d$ has direct contact with people....so.....maybe..just maybe....he can relay the message back to keep the trench bullies tight to the vest and lock em in bc WE ALL KNOW THE GAME OF FOOTBALL IS WON AT THE LOS. If you don't then peep on Clemson recruiting class.....they making a push for a good OL bc dabo is a ***** and is tryna save his job. He knows. In other words my fellow canes .....the money spent on NIL needs to be.. mostly (sigh) at the LOS.

Knew when we started stealing from Georgia they’re going to take something from us.

Sadly it’s a local DT.
Local? Didn't this kid just move to Miami or am I confusing him with someone else?

Besides most of the top guys being infatuated with the SEC, why do you think it's such a difficult position for this staff to recruit? A 5* is the dream but can we at least get some top 20-30 DTs? Kennedy would be a nice start.

Never made sense to me when you said that Kennedy was no longer an option. Losing James Johnson would be like getting sent back to the kiddie pool at the most important position in recruiting. Don't get me wrong. I'll take Bacon and Kennedy but Mario is going to have to do better in recruitments like JJs. Lamar Brown was always a pipe dream. Georgia is overloaded with DTs while we can barely fill out our depth chart. We cannot reach the elite level without doing better here.

Agreed 1000%. We need either brown or JJ. Can’t miss on both. This is why sec teams laugh at us some times. At times We blow our load on lower value positions

Barrow was a good get but we missed out on a chance to get the better player -- his former teammate and now 1st rounder Derrick Harmon.
Im talking Blay but he was solid too . Hes was still better most
