It's almost time to crack a few open and watch this hurricane push out into the Atlantic Ocean

I don't have any anger. But I'll call out bad leadership and premature ejaculation when I see it.

It's similar to what insanecane just posted in the other thread regarding New Orleans Saints after Katrina.

See my response to insanecane. State funding to allow a private school's football team to move to another state to practice?

That's the guy you're agreeing with. That's all we need to know.

I was referring to specifically the part that I specifically referred to.

Saints, Katrina

Just that part. No need for any state funding. Just that single part.

OK?

Yeah, we're going to play football again. But that isn't even close to what we've been talking about. Red herring gonna red herring.

This storm is heading straight for the East coast of Florida, It's going to be a monster bytchkitty and cause tremendous damage, deaths, and homelessness. No way are we should be playing THIS game and probably not the FSU game, either. Right now I'm just waiting for some ******* like that Heather Denich bytch on ESPN to say we should FORFEIT our game with Arkansas State or some such BS. The **** with all of them. This is not a sweet little Southern breeze headed our way.

I don't care if you believe in climate change or not, or if you think Al Gore is an ***. The weather lately is getting brutal. After the horror in Houston (my former residence), this is just really scary.

some of u people need to look at the history books and see what happened when andrew hit--and they say this is going to be bigger than andrew. u realize that football isnt that important when u r in the middle of 150mph winds.

Doubtful. If anything, it might go a little bit west of where the official forecast is putting it. Some models right now have it slamming directly in to the keys, and then up the west coast of Florida.

FAU is getting their annual budget paid for by going to Wisconsin.

FIU is staying in Alabama all next week.

Neither scenario is practical for our situation.

Arky St. offered to provide housing and practice facilities for our team in the event that they were stranded in Ark.

That thing flying past you is known as "the point".

Yeah, I know we "could" have spent a week in Arkansas, but keeping coaches and players away from town while their homes and families face catastrophic conditions is pretty stupid and is the kind of thing that CanesInsight posters would come up with.

If their families are staying in an area that is going to be devastated then poor decisions seem to be multiplying exponentially.
Ur normally insufferable, but are on point here

There is something weird going on here. Why would Blake James agree to cancel the game this week and "keep" the football players in SoFla, but allow the Basketball team and staff to get out of dodge and camp out in Atlanta for the Hurricane? Why wouldn't all sport teams from UM execute the same plan? whether the plan is to stay put or pull chalks to another location where it would be safer.

Do you understand the logistics of probably 100+ UM Players and Staff traveling for football vs 15-20 for basketball?

I actually do. and I know that Tulane University pulled all of their sports teams to include the football team out of New Orleans in the lead up to Katrina hitting...

That's because it's New Orleans. I went to Tulane. We evacuated every single year I was in school there for Hurricanes that didn't hit, and that was before Katrina. They evacuate that city if there's a hurricane anywhere in the Gulf.

This is true. New Orleans is a below sea level fish bowl. Floods easily, especially around the Tulane campus.

Thank God we have Piccolo in here to set everyone straight.

I live in Louisiana and we have had our run ins with Hurricanes and the rain that comes from them, and right now it's best for the ppl of FL to take cover.. "GET THE F' OUT OF DODGE"!! I guarantee all the ppl complaining about Miami not playing football is not living in FL.. When times like this comes around, ppl will think family first and the **** with football!! How can these players leave and go play a football game in Arkansas and be totally focus, when some know they have family that has no way of escaping this Hurricane, Because once they are out of Miami these players won't be coming straight back home.. And for some it's family first, and I think it's best that the game is cancelled, THERE IS MORE IMPORTANT THINGS TO FOCUS ON RIGHT NOW, AND ARKANSAS STATE IS ONE OF THEM!!

I agree with you here.As someone that's gone through many in Key West,Miami and now New Orleans you can bet that 99% of all the idiots whining about playing a football game as opposed to worrying about the storm have never been through one or don't live in an area prone for them.

All you have to do is go through one cat3 or cat4 and all those opinions would change to the other side of the fence.

This hurricane is gonna cause MAJOR destruction if it follows the path as is now projected.

Sure they could have gone to Memphis and played the game. But what about afterwards when the kids would be left worrying about their families because it may be 2-3 weeks before they can get back.Cell towers will be down so communications with families will be minimal so here you have 18-21 year old kids wondering if their families are alive, dead, without a home or any other 1000 things they would be left to imagine about.

They definitely did the right thing cancelling the GAME.Yea GAME....This sh*t is about life and death.Anyone that thinks otherwise has never been through one or had family go through one where they couldn't be reached.

If Miami Dade takes a direct hit from a Category 5 hurricane, there is a better than average chance the FSU game is postponed, moreover we may not play in Hard Rock for a while. I don't think some of you realize precisely how significant a Cat 5 is.

Exactly. Cat 5 direct hit will look as bad or worse than Andrew in 1992. I was there and it looked like a nuke hit it south of Perrine, into Cutler Ridge and Homestead. Pray for a right turn before it gets to Miami. Not gonna be pretty. God speed to those of you riding it out.

****, I lived in Perrine. It wasn't pretty.

Anyone that's ever been out of town working while their family is at home going through a severe storm would 100% understand this decision.

It's not going to be Cat 5. Might be Cat 3 or less if it goes over a chunk of Cuba. Max Cat 4, which is pretty nasty.

There's no telling. It might not hit Cuba at all, in which case it could land as a Cat 5 because some are saying it might intensify right before it makes landfall.

Point is, all possibilities can't be discounted. Right now, anything is possible, including a direct hit to the Miami area, or the eye completely bypassing Miami and heading somewhere else like maybe on the south west coast, projections still all over the place but just within a narrower area now

Still will have huge S FL impact, that's a guarantee

They are predicting up to 39 hours of tropical storm force winds in South Florida at a minimum. FVCK anyone who doesn't understand how potentially devastating this event can be.
