I definitely think he's making a mistake. I don't expect him to be drafted. BUT, as far as our team is concerned, I don't think this is really a loss.

He isnt getting drafted...hopefully he makes a roster as someones 3rd down back

Yearby was a class player who never complained or caused drama. Best of luck to him. I hope he can find a role on a NFL team and earn some real money, maybe even a pension.

I knew he was gone. That dude got kids to feed.

I'm not sure coming back would improve his draft stock. Probably a late round pick or UDFA either way.. I think it is the right decision for him & hopefully his skillset allows him to make a roster. Best of luck to him. Old school Cane.

Yearby has a few kids. I don't blame him.

I dont see him getting much buzz but that doesn't mean he can't make a roster. Best of luck to him.

Ahhh, I forgot about the kid already having multiple kids. That's a little different than having to or desiring to take care of your grown able-bodied adult relatives. I revise my earlier take and probably would say that going and getting any payday he can is a good choice- especially at a position where an injury to a guy that might be a later pick could make that same guy a Walmart employee real quick instead. Best of luck to him. I hope he ends up in a good system.

my understanding is that the kid's kids have a few kids now. The problem is piling up quickly.

Haha. Gotta break that cycle. It's probably more fun at NSD to not have multiple infants and toddlers present. That said, at least there weren't any maturity issues with the kid while he was here. AQM had a kid too and couldn't stop messing up.

wow, AQM has a kid? did they hook him up with a Bentley Power Wheels rental?

It was just last year he ran for a 1k. He's got a chance to make a roster. Really weird situation since he's a better back than Gus but Gus has the higher NFL ceiling. Kinda ****ed the coaching staff chose Gus over Yearby

This. Posted the other day that the hits are adding up and that he's got a family to support. With fewer carries here, it seemed likely he'd declare. I expect Yearby to sign as an undrafted free agent and to make a roster. Never thought we never fully took advantage of his short area quickness by getting him involved in the short passing game. Maybe that will become is forte in the league. Joe ran hard. Glad he is a Cane. Best of luck to him.

Agreed. Teams can never have enough running backs in the NFL. He could find a landing spot.

He might as well give it a shot. The staff has moved on and Yearby won't figure in their plans for next year.

I just don't understand why he wouldn't transfer to a program like Kentucky, Indiana, Texas Tech, or Cal (one mid level program for each P5 league other than ACC). Yeah he would have to sit out a year but he'd be the A1 guy his senior year, and would have a legitimate shot at getting drafted. I mean does he even have a shot this year? I wouldn't think so.

He's a father, he can't afford to do all that.

He has two kids and an older chic as his girlfriend/baby mother.

If I was him I would've found a FCS or mid major team but his chick cant move with the kids so there in lies the problem. He'll likely work out with his boy Cook and maybe get a shot...I doubt he gets a combine invite.

Too bad. I think he'll go undrafted. Just not fast enough or big enough to take the beatings in the NFL. If he stays and gets a degree, that'll go a lot further than undrafted or as an nfl practice squad guy.

I hope I'm wrong. Yearby has been a great Cane the last 3 years. I wish him the best of luck.

Richt's quote says a lot about his view on Yearby if you read between the lines. Reeks of indifference.

What is his weight. Can he run in the 4.5s ? Is so he will make it. Practice squad makes pretty good money for a kid right out of college also.

I'm cool with it.... his draft stock wasn't going to change sharing the load another year with 2 maybe 3 (Homer) other RBs. He will be a good pick for any team that selects him.

Kinda has no choice, 7th round draft pick, udfa money is better than being buried on the depth chart or sitting out a year on a transfer, this is also the best rb draft in recent memory

Exactly. League minimum if he makes a roster is around 450k. You can live very comfortably on that.

does it matter if he gets drafted or not?... he makes a team he gets a check its that simple and he definitely is going to make an NFL team.
