Kinda has no choice, 7th round draft pick, udfa money is better than being buried on the depth chart or sitting out a year on a transfer, this is also the best rb draft in recent memory

Yearby has a few kids. I don't blame him.

I dont see him getting much buzz but that doesn't mean he can't make a roster. Best of luck to him.

Lot of people in here forgetting yearby was a top 30 player overall coming out of high school. I'm aware that was 3 years ago but similar RBs have found success getting an NFL paycheck. At the end of the day he has a kid so gtfoh if ur questioning his move to go pro. I'm hoping he goes UDFA instead of round 6 or 7 so he can pick the best situation for him and his family. Good luck to joe. I'll be routing for him.

Good luck to the guy. Any NFL money he gets will be a blessing.

Best of luck but I hope he gets his degree.

I dont see him getting even drafted....a bird in the hand is way more important, and that bird in this case is a degree.

First thing he will do is lose weight and become much better physically. Too bad he couldn't muster the magic to do that here but that seems to be a pattern with our guys. That'll help his 40 and get him a look as a 3rd down pass catcher. His feet are elite when he's not bloated up.

Good luck to him, as he seems like a good dude who never caused any public chaos. He really had no future here. I wonder if the coaches found out about this Plan a couple weeks ago, which explains him suddenly disappearing.

Yea the best thing for him would be to finish his education then enter the draft so at least he has a fall back plan, wish we nabbed cook instead though

it was clear he wanted to be a 3 and done from moment he got here.

This. Posted the other day that the hits are adding up and that he's got a family to support. With fewer carries here, it seemed likely he'd declare. I expect Yearby to sign as an undrafted free agent and to make a roster. Never thought we never fully took advantage of his short area quickness by getting him involved in the short passing game. Maybe that will become is forte in the league. Joe ran hard. Glad he is a Cane. Best of luck to him.

Best of luck to him!! Always a Cane!! If he refines the little things I think he can be in that Stepfan Taylor type role for a team.

Richt on Joe Yearby: "If that's what he wants to do, I'm not going to stop anybody from doing what's in his best interest."

Unfortunately he wasn't a 3 and done kinda back like D. Cook I will be pulling hard for the young man to succeed

Ahhh, I forgot about the kid already having multiple kids. That's a little different than having to or desiring to take care of your grown able-bodied adult relatives. I revise my earlier take and probably would say that going and getting any payday he can is a good choice- especially at a position where an injury to a guy that might be a later pick could make that same guy a Walmart employee real quick instead. Best of luck to him. I hope he ends up in a good system.

my understanding is that the kid's kids have a few kids now. The problem is piling up quickly.

dalvin was 10x the back he was, u can blame james coley for that one

Good luck to him. I think this is incredibly short-sighted on his part, but who am I? Just some guy on a Canes message board.

Hope he gets an opportunity somewhere and makes the most of it.

It's unfortunate he will not get drafted and have to get picked up as an undrafted free agent. Hope he can find a role on some team.

Haha. Gotta break that cycle. It's probably more fun at NSD to not have multiple infants and toddlers present. That said, at least there weren't any maturity issues with the kid while he was here. AQM had a kid too and couldn't stop messing up.

I just don't understand why he wouldn't transfer to a program like Kentucky, Indiana, Texas Tech, or Cal (one mid level program for each P5 league other than ACC). Yeah he would have to sit out a year but he'd be the A1 guy his senior year, and would have a legitimate shot at getting drafted. I mean does he even have a shot this year? I wouldn't think so.

Because as you've just said, he'd have to sit out an entire year. I don't like him leaving early just because he has kids, but it is what it is. His skill set doesn't translate to the NFL really well. Going to another school where he'd be the primary back doesn't change that.
