Some thoughts on the Louisville loss

Real feelings here.

I have to give Cristobal a massive amount of credit. 5-6 years ago when we were closing in on 15 years of irrelevance, I thought this is what we are and will always will be. We cannot realistically compete with the OSUs and UGAs. At best we may have a coach who goes on a lucky streak and wins the ACC once or twice, but we don’t have the resources to win a national title. And then NIL happens. Boosters open up their wallets. Cristobal manages to put together parts of teams good enough to win a title. Last years offense was easily championship caliber. The defense held us back. This year the defense is at least playoff caliber, but the offense (especially OL with its penalties and the QB with his turnovers ) are kneecapping us. You had the pieces for a championship team but not in the same year.

I am filled with optimism after the last two seasons. We CAN win a title in this era of football. We can be as good as the OSUs and the UGAs. I didn’t think it was possible a few years ago. We just need a better HC to put it all together.

So out of respect and appreciation I am awarding Mario Cristobal my first ever “Buck Showalter Award.” Thank you for laying the foundation for our next HC to win a title.

You people sound like Louisville was a bunch of scrums. They have bunch of athletes, too. Their big-*** WR clowned our supposed best CB & motored thru the secondary. Yeah, can argue deserved to lose & out-schemed/coached, but every team going forward will bring its best & want a piece of Miami. This isn’t fantasy football.
Since you don't understand football, let me break it down for you. Brohm knew he couldn't beat OJ one-on-one on the outside because it wasn't working. That's why he ran those drag routes - they're tough to stop because you're running underneath the coverage. However, they're also high-risk because a linebacker can knock you off or pick off the ball. Watch the film, and you'll see what I mean. When Brohm tried to go outside against OJ, it didn't work because Chris Bell can't beat OJ on the boundary - OJ's too technical.

If FSU had recovered the last onside kick and won on a Hail Mary, I guarantee there would be a contingent of fans here who would say “It doesn’t matter what the final score was, we dominated them for 3 quarters so we are clearly the better team.”

I sincerely hope that Dawson spends the weekend working on a game plan to beat Stanfords defensive tendencies. Brohm spent two weeks on the plan for Friday’s game. Looked like Dawson spent 2 minutes…. They came into that game assuming they were going to push both LVille’s lines around and had no answer when it didn’t happen.

Use the skill talent on the bench. It’s getting tiresome listening to all the talk about “trust”. What’s trust? Blocking? Guys getting the snaps aren’t doing that well anymore. Let’s see Moore and some of the other backups. Every team going forward will key in Toney and Daniels.

And for god’s sake stop running Lyle into the middle of the line.
Yea they got to get some more outside runs for Lyle. I’m convinced if Mario had a player like Isaac Brown he’d run him right up the centers *** like Fletcher. If you have a player who is strong in areas outside of what you normally do you have to adjust and incorporate a few more plays of what that player is special at.

Thanks D$. Best cure for my anxiety is a drink called Buzzn.

I’m sorry but I’m not buying the Lofton regressing. Man doesn’t even get featured in the offense. How’s his blocking regressed when everything is between the tackles. Recruit all these pass catching te’s then ask them to block 90% of the time. I wouldn’t be mad if he got up out of here with the other two recruits from last season.

Dawson just ran it up the middle again..
Is Dawson running up the middle again, or is it Mirabel- run game coordinator?

joking but not really

think ego about our OL is blinding strategy over bully ball mentality.

You can and should have both.

For me the trouble with losing the Louisville game is that a great team would have won that game with 4 minutes remaining and a couple of time outs. Thus it’s another mediocre season.
