2 sacks... all this talk about the transformative change on the DL from our transfers and how deep we are, but 2 sacks against the worse OL we will see all season is a major disappointment. If we cant put pressure on the QB we will have the same poor defense this year as we had last year.

It really makes me think that the reason they couldn't pick the starters wasn't because they have too many good dudes... its because they don't really have any freaks out there on the line.

We’re gonna have to shore up containment on running quarterbacks that’s for sure.

We got pressure a ton yesterday and when they weren’t getting the ball out fast the pocket was collapsing very quickly on almost every play

No disrespect, just football play... How is DJ Ivey on the field (starting), watch his coverage / whiff on tackles etc. Hate to say it, but feels like the last coaching staph (He who should not be named) with this one coaches' decision.
Because when players have been around CFB at the FBS level for as long as he has (5 years), they know how to practice at a high level and learn new playbooks fast. Coaches love that kind of stuff. Even if he can’t execute at the highest level, he knows where to be. That’s why you got Flagg winning jobs as well. Also, from all reports Ivey is book smart as well.

I think we'll be fine at DL and secondary will come together the question and has been for a while is LB. I think there may be barely enough talent there to be ok but it would require playing younger players. If I'm a coach I put talent on the field over experience bc the opposing OC has to respect talent. Experienced slow players are easy to game plan for bc you know they are at their ceiling. Young, fast , explosive players are stars waiting to have that big game.

JHH had a touchdown saving tackle and a pure effort play early in the game. The RB caught a swing pass and broke a tackle. JHH made the tackle on the sidelines 20 yards up field around the Miami 15. Another great show of effort from him.
Absolutely.

That is a play NFL scouts will look at and they get a lil hard because of it. They love big beefy boys slapping meat and they love big beefy boys chasing down lil guys all the way across the field.

no excuses, but they had big time athlete at qb

This is my takeaway from your post...

Now that we have a real staff with good, veteran coaches that know wtf they are doing...we are finally seeing in our players performance on the field what we saw with them on tape or that maybe you saw in flashes on Greentree. We will continue to see this throughout the season and not just a result of playing Bethune Cookman.

Also, our 3rd and 4th string players as well as the walk-ons were ******* destroying the starters on Bethune Cookman...another thing we rarely saw under previous coaches, even when we were beating them silly under those **** coaches. It didn't matter who was in, they were beating down BCC starters. That's a new culture for sure.

When Jaleel Skinner becomes an All-American...I'll never forget the first time I saw him as a 'Cane in a game. After his big catch... "who in the fvck is #23?" ... *checks phone* ... "oh ****"... he runs and moves like a WR.
The play by play guy had to check his phone too. Lol

Steele will need to scheme to the DL’s strengths. We have speed and power but lack a flexible dude with bend that can win purely on pass rush moves.

Agree. We have them, but they are pups and aren’t ready to be THE guys for that role yet (Kelly/Moss). This year we will have to be creative but at the same time I need more from 45 and 12.

Speaking of coordination we got some guys that run really goofy. Will Mallory either has a weird limp from all his knee injuries or just has strange running mechanics.

Redding looks like he is trying to run with high knees in a pool with center blocks on his feet. The one route they showed on a replay it looked so strange and makes sense why he can’t get separation on his own. Glad to see the WR catch the ball with their hands. Ladson made a few catches as well. Gattis knows how to mix it up and can’t wait to get Knighton and MT. Zion back.

Overall fun day to be a canes fan and see no turnover chain up 50 billion against BCU or stupid TD rings when you score TD number 7. Let’s go smash Southern Miss next week!
Yeah those guys definitely "run heavy". I honestly am starting to wonder if it's the Adida cleats because I don't really see any of our guys make open field moves and when they try they almost always fall.

The play JHH made on the sideline was the best of the game. That and Kam’s pick followed by MC not giving two fcks and chewing him out for the spike. Haven’t seen rage like that since Butch. Last year, Manny would have patted him on the back and put the chain on him. The culture change is visible.

They need to do something about Ivey, but Flagg is the bigger problem. He made a play or two, but he NEVER flashes- AT ALL. It’s laughable that his instincts and field IQ were compared- before he got here- to Spence. Spence was undersized as well and he DOMINATED. Flagg ain’t the guy.
I’d rather leave Ivey on the field all season than see CF play another down. I’m sure he’s a great kid, but he needs to be somewhere like Troy or Western Michigan.

It’s just the human not the cleats even though Redding looks like he is playing in high top baseball cleats the way he runs.

Soccer players have been wearing addidas for a very long time and they are fast and cut on a dime. It’s the athlete not the cleats

We don’t need more from Ivey, we need less. Hes just unplayable. No instincts, bad feet, no heart. Gets picked on vs bottom tier FCS competition. We’ve seen four years of him getting major snaps because he looks the part but he just can’t be on the field.

The Keyshawn thing is a major development. He’s been good when he got targets and opportunities and he’s very fast. Kinchens has to be on the field. Mesidor is good. LB is what we thought it was. They’ll have to fight to be middle of the pack in the ACC.

Talent level across Isn’t where it needs to be but it’s enough to keep us in every game if we’re smart and play hard. From there it’s on kids to make plays and a little bit of luck

I honestly thought Ladson didn’t look awful either. Made some plays and sought contact in bounds on that last catch. He can carve out a role if he continues to work - we all know he has talent.

JW0 had a good pick, but wasn’t too impressed overall with his play. He got dragged by a few tacklers and made some poor reads. Hoping he shakes off the rust.

Nice to see Skinner get a catch, thought he looked fluid out there on that route.
U watch ur FILTHY MOUTH about JW0! He will be ok
