And we played a clean game!! No drive killing penalties!!!!!
Well, in the first half there was a holding penalty or something like that which moved us into 1st and 20. Dawson called an inside run, everyone on the gameday thread lost their sh.it, and eventually we converted to keep the drive alive. I believe we scored to end that drive.

But, yes overall a clean game, and when we did ***** up it didn't cost us dearly thanks to the defense.

Sometimes, a kid flashes in practice but there are other things that keep them off the field . They may also be stuck behind more experienced players that have performed well. Every young player isn’t Malachi Toney, where the light comes on immediately. Pringle is taking full advantage of his opportunity and I’m happy to see that he’s doing well.
Like @JHallCanes said, Pringle has been hurt on and off since spring so that slowed his ascension. He’s healthy now.

I think the staff also wanted Lyle to seize that explosive back role since he has size and is older. That didn’t happen and I’m glad they were decisive with the change.

It’s a shame about Lyle. You had guys like Coach Sol at practice comparing Lyle to the greats. Maybe he just doesn’t have the vision in full-contact (teams rarely tackle to the ground in practice). Maybe the injury set him back. Maybe it’s just confidence, or a poor system fit.

There’s probably truth in all of it. But we don’t have time to wait around. Pringle is the guy.

Imagine this defense with last year’s offense. We’d be 10-0, #1 in the country, and tearing through our schedule. Only team we’d have to worry about in the playoff is OSU or UGA.

Hopefully, at some point, both sides of the ball will be equally great
I’ve said it many times…

Why can’t we seem to get them working together at the same time…

Defense bad last year, offense struggling this year, like ****…

We should not be in this position this year…

The success with last years recruiting class shows me that it isn’t really so important to have the highest rated class. If you have a staff that is providing solid evaluations, are you getting a high percentage of the guys you are targeting? Get the right players for your systems that also have the mindset for the culture you want to build. Also, hard to over emphasize how big a plus some of those Portal additions have turned out to be. Many of them weren’t predicted to be difference makers and have exceeded most fan’s expectations.

Pringle was also injured

Just glad to see forcing Jordan Lyle in the game is over. Took about 2 carries to see Pringle is better

Very happy with the offense this week but I’m skeptical if we will do it against Pitt. We like to bully and front run against teams that can’t threaten us. Fingers crossed.

Also add Jaden Baugh to the list of talented backs we’ve made look absolutely pedestrian
the one thing not spoken about when talking pitt is their dl isnt very big. we probably will b able to lean on them heavily.

their lbs arenty either but can run.

I cringed a couple times when he was in pass pro he took some VICIOUS shoulder shots

I know people hate the running back pass pro stuff but in our offense it’s legit for sure

I think Mario does a good job of getting guys to play as soon as they’re ready. He knows freshmen see that and portal transfers. Retention is important but 2025 you just can’t be stubborn it has a negative domino effect

It is a budget driven process now. Teams need to find the correct balance between high school recruiting and transfer portal aquisition. To far to either extreme could have negative consequences. overly heavy in HS could result in waiting a year or two for payoff or just bust and prevent signing of portal players of need and conversely, portal heavy like FSU. Each year is going to be different

horton they couldnt retain he was out regardless.

zayquan baked himself so that was a no brainer. But like u said cost wise they were likely close so that was a huge hit for jakkobe thomas.

they did a good job with their fills in the portal this go round...im hoping its similar this off szn as well.
We will have to show urgency and decisiveness in the portal session since there is only one session.

NC State's defense: 92nd in the country in yards per carry allowed
Syracuse's defense: 107th in the country in yards per carry allowed

Not taking anything away from Pringle. He does look quicker than the other kids, for sure. But Marty Brown averaged 5.6 a carry on Saturday too. Hellcat averaged 6.4 a carry.

But IMO it's nowhere near fair to watch 2 games against high school teams and go berserk that so and so should've been starting all along. This is about the time of the year when true freshmen usually start to become fully acclimated. So he looks great, but let's have some perspective.
Been tryna tell em this same thing for the last two weeks but **** it I guess we can crown him RB1 now until he doesn’t avg 5 ypc against a good defense and they inevitably start ****ting on him smh it’s the CIS way.

We’re missing an Elite QB this year, if we can just hit on one again while Heatherman is still at DC we’re cooking with grease cause the talent will be there.

Pringle was also in a sling for a couple weeks mid season

Would rather more two back sets with Pringle out there with Marty/Fletch. That way it’s not just obvious it’s a run with Pringle in. Have Pringle slip out to the flats instead of having these garbage TEs out there.

That's an easy solution. You don't put him out there to pass block. You put your players out there to showcase their strengths. These coaches get paid too much to not understand that.

I agree that we cop out and defer to secondary assignments too much to decide our rotation, but you can't have a RB that signals 90% run either for early down and distances. We tip enough as it is.
