That and the way its corrected is by not letting the defender get his hands inside like that, which he did at the initial point of contact.

I don't read much into these camp and all-star things. There's another rep where I loved how he kept his feet moving horizontally showing amazing balance with light feet for a guy his size.

Here is the hand he used for the leveraged throw down....

Its another cam angle. But the same play.

You can clearly see he is under his arm not near his pads. The other hand came up when the defenders hands went under his mask. You can tell how he tosses him and both of their bodies that this wasn't someone grabbing the shoulder pads and falling. He stoned him. He only feel down because the defender pulled him down. Holding is completely subjective so who knows what would have been called. But from what I see this aint holding. Its the same result I would expect if a high schooler went up against a mauling NFL type body of a man. Just tossed the dude.

MOAR WRESTLERS!!!
Wanting to get lineman from the Midwest all this time while not wondering why they stand out as if they have a different way of coaching up there.
A lot of kids in the Midwest have wrestled competitively at some point in their lives.
It’s a huge advantage. It’s akin to female gymnasts going into other sports and killing it.
It provides such a foundation for balance and stamina. It makes you use your entire body and you’re constantly bending and trying to be strong and flexible.

If I was a youth football coach in south Florida I would have all my lineman and backers wrestle while in peewee and junior high.

Actually I would make them all wrestle

Don't have the wrestling culture/infrastructure for it and alot of kids play at parks outside of their neighborhood so you don't really get to group them into sports like that.

Then build it.
I went to school at Miami southwest and in 88 or 89 they won state.
Out of all the training that goes on down here from bomarito, redline, or any other place there has to be a way to get dudes that know how to start programs with the young ones and you would see results in less than 10 years guaranteed. Especially with the type of athletes we have in sofla.

And if the local coaches aren’t aware of how huge of an advantage it would be then show them.

I’m still not over the holding call that cost us a Mark Walton TD against FSU.

that and the non-holding no call on P. Harvin holding (maybe R. Buchanan or M. Robinson) in the swamp. :/

The wrestling culture in Miami was, at one point, partly comprised of old, immigrant Cuban dudes who were former competitive wrestlers. At one point when I was in HS, a few schools, including Pace and my HS, had strong programs that would do really well at states. Wrestling dudes are sick *****, btw, and I mean that with a lot of respect, as I never formally wrestled. Just messing around and taking informal tips from the wrestling coaches helped me in my varsity sports (football and basketball). Absolutely love their mindsets. The "lock yourself in a car trunk while covered in a garbage bag" mentality is helpful in all facets of life. Hard pass on the "ringworm" culture, though. All due respect.

I think you answered it though. With so much specialized training, why go thru **** with wrestling? I am a fan of the sport but it just isn't as big down here as Ohio and other parts of the country.

Over there it’s huge. It’s like if your kid isn’t wrestling then what type of father are you with some of them.

It’s kind of like jiujitsu. Your body gets used to instinctively adjusting and reacting to positions and leverage a lot quicker. When you train as a linemen you do it in steps and are only in a position when in your stance and then shoot to engage for a few seconds.

In wrestling your can be in a stance for several minutes and engage for several rounds. Your muscle memory becomes used to being low and to be constantly engaged as opposed to stopping at the whistle.
In wrestling your torso and stance is constantly stretched and bent into different angles and fulcrum points that you have to counter or attack round after round.

When your start to look at it then you can see why there are so many lineman form that area that practiced that sport in the nfl.

Yeah that socks.I think wrestling is not that big down here like the states up north because I don’t think the university’s in Florida have wrestling teams
