I will say this and maybe Pete can attest.... the staff here knows what's up and I'm sure this did not take them by surprise hence them looking at other prospects the last couple weeks

Yup, Pete mentioned it the other day.

Pete also said that Russell was solid and communicating with the staff that he was solid while on his UF visit. Either Pete was out of the loop, or this came up rather suddenly.

I don't think Pete was out of the loop. I believe he was communicating and maybe on that boring drive back from Gainesville is when he started thinking about everything

Looking at the depth and so on. Plus Randy may know whose also the "silent commits" in addition to who we already have

Pete stated that when he got back something changed with him. I think whatever happened ****ed the staff off and they are going to move on from him. That's how I think it went down.

Aside from awful posts about losing recruiting momentum and constant paranoia, i'm not sure you bring anything else of value to this board.

Not doubting you, but where did Pete say this?

Well, today's happenings could certainly be viewed by some as losing a bit of momentum. Others may disagree. I view it as neither as long as we hang on to what we've got.

Don't really care about the concept of bringing value to the board. 99.9% of us are just fans looking to keep up with our team.

Just stated it as a possibility since today's events are in a bit of contrast to what Pete said about RR on the podcast. For the record, I think the kid had a sudden charge of heart based on a family decision.

Per Pete
Miami got the sense early this week that Russell was set to decommit after visiting UF last weekend. Russell was communicating to the UM staff during the weekend that he was 'solid' in his commitment, but that tune changed when he returned. He was a player that the Miami defensive staff loved as a box safety and thumper, but a source said that they will not re-recruit and fight to keep him. Russell is expected to land at Florida.

I've been around long enough to know when CIS really cares about something. The best way to judge how much CIS cares about something is the length of the thread. Usually the long threads are for A. When exciting news could possibly be on the horizon (For example, Lingard's visit to campus just before committing and yes, even though it didn't pan out, the Jeudy thread, Jeff Thomas). B. When a unexpected decommitment happens or things are trending Miami's way for a major recruit (McFarland, Collins, Henderson, Byrd). This decommitment was unexpected and to a bitter rival yet 6 only pages. I think everyone realizes that were fine and trust the staff to better the situation.

Well he did not decommit to commit to UF yet...although that's where it seems he may be landing. He may look or entertain other offers besides them

I hear everyone saying he would not play over Jobe and Hall... But lets be realistic JJ and Amari will be holding it down in 2018!!! I am saying all safety's will be rotational at best in 2018!!!!

Playing us to go to UF? He'll, anyone pretty much can suit up there now... they are irrelevant. You either have the intestinal fortitude to compete at The U, or you don't. I liked the kids talent, but he evidently wants easyville, and that's ok for a non-Cane. LMAO at playing for randy the program destroyer/mind gamer...literally had our kids in tears jerking around as he handed off ruins to Al. Adios RR, you now get your wish to play without completion..lol

Smart move he was never playing over jobe or hall and thats not sour grapes its true. Those guys have instincts and closing speed russel is a thumper.

If it's me I'm taking Jobe, Hall, and Frierson as my Safeties, with Campbell, Blades, and Ivey as my CBs and calling it a day

I'd like now all the attention on wrapping up who we have, getting blades and Campbell on board, and going for Akeem Dent and try to get him back for 2019. Just my opinion but I think with those 6, you're good to go and get going on 2019 and 2020.

This is a big loss. All you naysayers can stop being butthurt. This kid can play.

if his name isn't Hall, Jobe, or Frierson then I don't want to see "big loss" because that's just being ridiculous.

You guys are focusing on recruiting rankings too much. RR's tape more impressive than most.

Theres not one db commit on our list if trade for him. He's nice but nothing like you're making.

There's way more to safety than playing downhill and some big hits.

Richt always seems to counter negative news with some positive so I'm expecting a commit soon.

Blades on Fathers Day?
Bethel this week?
