Him being coached by Detmer gives him a great advantage coming into college. From all reports the kid is a sponge when it comes to being coached and learning the Playbook. His film shows really good accuracy and anticipation on throws which I like seeing. Dewey is one of my fav recruits, I'm glad we jumped on him early on.

I am guess his wrist his fine since we haven't heard about it in a while.

Haven't watched much video on him, looks like a decent arm in what I have seen.

I remember watching the elite 11 competition and him being nonexistent.

He will bring great pocket awareness, above average intelligence, and accuracy. However, his arm strength is lacking. I think it has more to do with his overall strength (core, arm), than some type of technique deficiency. I really wish he could get the chance to red-shirt, but he wont. Since he is coming in early, he will most certainly be ahead of Crow and Thompson.

I like his quick release.

Once he sees an open receiver, he delivers the ball quickly and accurately.

Good looking prospect.

Does he wear number 11 and 7? In his senior clip it looks like he switches up. Unless some of that is from a different season.

His arms looks stronger than Jacory's but not as strong as Stephen's. I guess that is a horrible comparison, but his arm is ok for college.

Crow is an EE as well. I like Crow better bc of level of competition played and arm strength. Neither is elite IMO however. I think we get Olsen the year after and he's the one that takes us to the ship!

You know what we need? We need DaUson to build another recruiting thread. He used to tally all of the verbals, put videos together, stats, whether they were an EE. Best thread on Scout. Not sure if he did it last year but that thread was always gold.

I like Dewey because he reminds me of Dorsey. Dorsey was very similar... bit of a thinner kid, not great arm strength, but was smart, efficient, coachable, and understood the game and how to run an offense.

Ive always been a huge believer that you dont need a great arm or to be a physical stud to be a successful college Qb. You just need to be smart in the pocket and make good decisions. We have always had more success here with smarter QBs who didnt have rockets for an arm. I think Dewey can be that kind of QB... smart, good decision maker in the pocket. We will always have speed at WR and in the back field... we just need a smart Qb who can audible, read a defense, and not make mistakes.

Put me down in the camp of thinking Dewey is going to end up a lot better for us than Crow.

Dewey is a guy that has a lot of positive qualities both as a thrower and athlete. He reminds us of Chase Rettig from the 2010 class only Dewey may not have quite the same arm. He has good size and may still be filling out and adding inches. He possesses a calm, poised demeanor and a smooth over-the-top, quick delivery. Plays in a multiple set scheme, works from under center and out of the shotgun and is asked to make throws to all three levels in the passing game as well as play-action and designated roll-outs. Carries the ball chest high and mechanically is extremely sound and consistent. Shows good feet and footwork away from center. Is a good ball handler, can freeze defenders and attack the middle of the field off play fakes. Dewey possesses a very good arm, not elite, but his ability to anticipate and get the ball out on time is very good. Throws to a spot with confidence his WR will be where he is supposed to be and you can see he has very good command of the scheme. He is a guy that when he gets into a rhythm can get very hot. Shows good RPMs and because of timing and his release he can fit the ball into tight creases underneath and to some intermediate areas. Does a nice job throwing on the move to either side. Is a good enough athlete to get out of trouble and keep a play alive and will tuck the ball and run when necessary, but is not a dual-threat. As you watch Dewey he gets better and grows on you because his release is smooth and impressive. However, Dewey does not always set his feet properly. Throws off his back foot too often. Feet seem unsettled at times so he does not always get the power on some throws he is capable of. Overall, Dewey's recruitment will start heating up in the spring and summer. He is a late-bloomer and has upside due to his physical tools that are going to be enhanced as he gets stronger and matures.

Good stuff right there.

If he's Greg McElroy, I'm happy.

I'm not as high on Dewey as others. It concerns me that he couldn't beat out the 5'9 kid and had to transfer. Hope I'm wrong.
