That's not what I read just yesterday. He's currently in the mix for the starting spot.

Like tate Martel was in 2019? Or for real

Like for real. From what I've seen, the Missou coach had been giving equal reps to all three QBs until last week. Now Garcia and one other kid (Horn?) are getting more 1st team reps than the #3 kid (name?). Some are now speculating that that Garcia and Horn will both play in the first game.

SIAP…Miami starts at 8:55

MeeMaw Pate didn't "choose" nursing. She killed two kids as a high school DC and only avoided prosecution by agreeing to leave the profession. Ran em until they dropped for being too soft against the run.

Wasn’t there today but felt this way during the spring game. It’s a huge concern for me. Dawson has to do a better job with their internal clocks.
I truly believe VR training should be a staple for our QB’s. They should all have their own and they should have real-time feedback on how long they have before they’re getting hit in VR.

To me, the next wave of QB training is through technology and I kind of wish Miami would become an industry leader in this realm.

My mistake on the four high schools. He was actually enrolled in five.

Grayson (Ga)

Valdosta (Ga)

Narbonne (Calif)

Long Beach Poly (Calif)

La Habra (Calif)

Also, Covid wasn’t an issue in his Georgia transfers. In 2020, he played in Valdosta’s first game before being ruled ineligible by the state high school association due to violating transfer rules – Valdosta forfeited the win over Warner Robbins. Parents legally had separated to make the transfer appear legit, but GHSA said not so fast. So, Garcia’s father then arranged for sole custody of Jake, who transferred immediately to Grayson and the GHSA said OK.

Hopefully it works out for Jake at Missouri or his next stop, but there was no way Jake and the family were having him sit another year behind TVD. Warning: Be leery of kids micromanaged by mom and dad.

I strongly agree with your overall point, which is the Garcia family has been planning and micromanaging Jake's football career. I also feel parents acting as their kids' agents is a HUGE red flag. The fact they got a divorce to allow him to play in Georgia is incredible.

But just to stay factual, Covid definitely forced their move to Georgia.

Any downside that you’ve seen or read about?

wait until AI works its way into sports...especially for positions like QB

not gonna even go there when augmentation becomes the "issue"

Overuse. Since you’re actually ripping your arm like any other pass, you can overthrow or overwork your body and not have enough recovery time.

I assume there are other unintended consequences that I’ve not seen studied yet.

Also with QB recruiting these kids know the NFL has been using VR for their QB training for a while now

Why would you want to come to a program that’s not utilizing the tools the NFL uses if the point is to prepare you for the NFL?

VR should be at minimum being used to aid the decision making process. You don’t necessarily have to throw an actual ball to utilize it…though realizing I know you’re aware of this hence the advocacy

I don't think it's a real downside, but guys who can't process well enough will figure that out quicker or might jump to a conclusion and move positions faster. I'm all for it, fwiw. It's only one factor of many, but processing is a top priority in QB evaluations - if not the top priority, as they rise through levels of play.

Just getting around to viewing/watching all the scrimmage tape & notes. Few things heading into season.

- Not judging Jacurri yet, this is basically his freshman year. It’s a tragedy what Miami did with him last year. He needs mechanical help, footwork help. He’s not confident because he’s not naturally throwing yet. Most upside in the whole room.

- RB depth looks good. Imagine if Citizen ever gets healthy. Hopefully we use CJ in the slot some, he’s too fast not to get 4-5 touches a game.

- Jaden Davis will be best CB this year. He’s physical at the line. Vet who’s started a lot of games. Might not be a top draft prospect but he will have a Colbert like impact - might say a little more about overall room, but they battle.

- Francis will be the best OL we have by end of year. Potentially 1st team all conference. He’s that good.

- James Williams going to put on a show. I know Guidry is licking his chops - coaches dream. Mentally locked in. Simmons at Clemson type impact - get your popcorn ready.

- Safety, IOL depth scares the **** out of me.

- MUST protect TVD at all costs.

- Need Arroyo to be the dude.

Where did you see James Williams’ highlights? That would be great news if he is flashing in his new role.
