Say what you will about Rumph's awful recruiting, but he is a good position coach. Give him the raw talent and he'll coach em up. I think the footwork can be improved
Kid is fast and a playmaker. He's not worth a scholly?

I see this alot. Just want to know whats the basis for it?. Just an explanation on it. I think he can be...but i never knew it was a definate hes a good position coach when he has only coached 2 seasons.

I agree about Rumph. @gogeta4 our corners play with excellent technique. There is really no room for criticism in how the corners are taught and the results speak for themselves with their overall development, ball production and success in man coverage. Jaquan Johnson has developed into an elite college safety and Redwine is a mostly acceptable starting safety which is an achievement in itself.

I agree that you can teach kids to improve backpedal - there is nothing natural or intuitive about moving backwards.

I don't think the kid is worth a scholly yet from what I saw. Let him compete at Paradise camp and possibly evaluate his Senior film as well. If Old Dominion won't offer this local kid then what rush is there for Miami to offer?

I think given the middling CB talent (by Miami standards) that he's had to work with, CB play has been good.

The basis is the last 2 years which is the only thing we have to judge him on. A little funny that we can say he's a terrible recruiter after 2 years, but can't say he's a good on the field coach after 2 years.

You're a jackass and don't know what the **** you're talking about.

I’ve been wishing we could get into VA for years. Not easy but it’s relatively open especially for an OOS school that offers such a unique experience.
Agreed with Virginia, I would also like to see us start recruiting Louisiana harder!

Our luck in Louisiana (Ed Reed, Reggie Wayne) seemed to end with Akeem Jolla. For out-of-state recruiting, you generally go where you have connections. With Richt, obviously Georgia works. He also has lots of sway in Northern Florida (which some consider almost out-of-state).

I like kids like this who are hungry and want to compete. Vag Tech has been winning 10 games a year for two decades with guys like this.

He knew every stat cold too didn’t he? Did he proclaim himself an excellent driver after rattling off all those stats?
I do like this kid....i havent watched the film but u have to root for a kid that wants thatcane offer. These r the kids that go to vt and give us ****. If we can squeeze him in after landed who we want i wouldnt mind unless there squeezing out a baller

What are you guys talking about? The kids #'s are better than 95% of the south FL DB's. If his tape matches...you offer. Why deal with south FL pre-madonna's when a kid is talented and calls the U his dream school?! Other than Dean, there isn't one corner on the roster that ran a 4.5 in HS.

What about MJ28

Knew every stat like he said it every night in his sleep

Not quite as hard as you think. Tough to get the most elite, but there are a lot of good players in Virginia. We've had more Virginia players in the past. I don't think we have put much emphasis on Virginia. I think Mike Rumph is the area recruiter now. Years ago it used to be Kehoe. I just think we've had better contacts in and more interest from other areas, like Texas and Louisiana. Those areas have fallen off for UM, though, in recent years.

One issue is we've found so many kids from Florida and Georgia to fill our needs that we don't look too much at other areas. Often you go to areas to recruit if you get interest from players there. Look at D.J. Johnson. We only recruited him after he approached us. That happens, I think, more than you realize. Back in the '80's, his HS coach said Kevin Williams recruited us more than the other way around, and he was a 1st team USA Today All-American.

exactly. and it's not a coincidence.

It's hard to tell how good all these kids are just based off of their highlight tapes.

Some things I noticed; good tackler, great body control/positioning, and elite awareness. That 40 time is good enough for a junior, especially at safety.

Send him an invite to Paradise. If he comes down and balls out, then given him a commitable offer if da []_[] really is his dream school.

That Wisconsin game and his recruiting is what’s doing it IMO.

During the season he was getting tons of praise because of the emergence of Young, Jackson, JJ, Redwine and for good reason.

A couple of them turn their heads in that Wisconsin game and get some INTs, he’s a God around here (until signing day anyway)

The CB’s last year were absolute dog **** at getting their heads around when the ball ws in the air. Yes, he’s an upgrade from Paul Williams, and not saying he can’t be good, but there needs to be a bigger sample size.

I like his Swagg. If he is .01% better than another DB we would offer from S. FL I say sign him up. Time to put talent in front of area. These S. FL divas may get upset short term, but if we are winning they will come. If not they will go to the $EC like T.C. and Nintendo 64
