Miami lands ELITE 2026 TE Gavin Mueller

Miami has made a big-time flip late in the 2026 cycle, flipping four-star TE Gavin Mueller from Colorado.

At 6-foot-5 and 255 pounds, Mueller provides the prototypical TE build. He can serve as the traditional Y tight end, but also provides a threat in the passing game with some real athleticism and catch point prowess.

On the athletic end, the No.1 player in Illinois checks all the boxes with an 82-inch wingspan, 4.5 40-yard alongside a 36 inch vertical and 10 foot broad jump.

What’s interesting about Mueller is how he’s only currently playing his second season of football — previously a basketball player. But despite only having two years of HS football experience, Mueller has made up for lost time with his talent and work ethic, hence his late rise up the board and sky high potential.

In his senior season, Mueller has put up some ridiculous numbers with 30 touchdowns, 1325 yards and 14.8 yards per touch at a variety of positions.

The Illinois product was originally committed to Colorado in May, and despite only offering in October, the Hurricanes made up ground in his recruitment to eventually flip him over schools like UNC, LSU and Alabama. He made his visit to Miami for NC state last weekend and as I expected, Miami closed quickly with a spectacular visit.

Mueller’s commitment pushes Miami to 30 recruits on the year and joins California product Israel Briggs as the ’Canes TE pairing for the 2026 class.

And with signing day less than a month away, expect Miami to continue to push to flip for top targets as the days count down.

Huge

He saw plenty of opportunity to play right away lol Plus the Toney effect had to influence decision. True Freshman shining bright.

That's a big dude, but 4.5? Don't see a 4.5 yet, not sure where that comes from.

But he's got excellent foot movement and agility for a dude being 6'6.

Our tight end room next year is filthy AF.
Brock, Lofton, Nickel, Carver etc
Wow!!
Playing Debbie downer here…

1. Lofton has been a huge disappointment this year.
2. Nickle career stats are 1 catch for 6 yards
3. Carver been here 3 years and has zero catches.

The only one with some promise is Brock and even him is an unknown until proven otherwise.

We giving up on Carver already? He just lost his second year due to injury and last year he was behind Arroyo, Cam and Riley.

Maybe we wait to see what he looks like in Spring and fall camp?
Not giving up but meh..my expectations have lowered as to if we can develop him especially with that room getting better. We will see. He’s definitely a high floor player.

My concern will remain our usage of TE's until proven otherwise. But physically this kid is a **** cyborg, made in a TE lab. If he catches onto the nuances quick and can even block at an average capacity hes gonna see the field pretty soon unless Gilbert & Schott take huge leaps this offseason.

Luka Gilbert who had some nice catches vs BCC (and got leveled)

This isn't mopey or Debbie downer it's an honest assessment.

Why doesn't Gilbert have promise? Him and Brock are both true freshmen. The rest of what you said is true, obviously.

can’t believe some of yall watched that tape and didn’t see the elite tools. **** the competition, those tools would give any level of high school football problems.
Not sure if I see 4.5 speed
