Miami lands ELITE 2026 TE Gavin Mueller

Miami has made a big-time flip late in the 2026 cycle, flipping four-star TE Gavin Mueller from Colorado.

At 6-foot-5 and 255 pounds, Mueller provides the prototypical TE build. He can serve as the traditional Y tight end, but also provides a threat in the passing game with some real athleticism and catch point prowess.

On the athletic end, the No.1 player in Illinois checks all the boxes with an 82-inch wingspan, 4.5 40-yard alongside a 36 inch vertical and 10 foot broad jump.

What’s interesting about Mueller is how he’s only currently playing his second season of football — previously a basketball player. But despite only having two years of HS football experience, Mueller has made up for lost time with his talent and work ethic, hence his late rise up the board and sky high potential.

In his senior season, Mueller has put up some ridiculous numbers with 30 touchdowns, 1325 yards and 14.8 yards per touch at a variety of positions.

The Illinois product was originally committed to Colorado in May, and despite only offering in October, the Hurricanes made up ground in his recruitment to eventually flip him over schools like UNC, LSU and Alabama. He made his visit to Miami for NC state last weekend and as I expected, Miami closed quickly with a spectacular visit.

Mueller’s commitment pushes Miami to 30 recruits on the year and joins California product Israel Briggs as the ’Canes TE pairing for the 2026 class.

And with signing day less than a month away, expect Miami to continue to push to flip for top targets as the days count down.

Welcome. Apparently will get a big bump from 247 tomorrow too, top 125 in country and top 10 TE.

I’m a fan, he is 1000% all upside but a lot God given talent with him and the kid just started playing football.

That entire room, aside from Lofton who just can’t play IMO, is all upside though and we need Woodiel to earn his check. If Schott can’t make a real impact next season and surpass Lofton, I’ll be disappointed if we are being honest. No, I would never expect him to be Arroyo as a blocker but in Y2, he should be better than what we are getting from Lofton this year and MUCH better than what we are getting from him in the pass game. Gilbert should be able to replace Bauman in Y2 as well. Still wouldn’t mind us bringing in a guy here through portal but this room has plenty talent, need them to play like it because the drop off there this season has been very significant.

You think Lofton is out of position fam?

I don’t want to thread jack but he’s pretty useless. What does he do well?
I was skeptical on him as a recruit, didn’t see the upside in a 6’0 230 sawed off pass catcher. I bought into the offseason hype instead of just going with what I know/my gut. We have seen plenty of him now and I don’t want to hear about the injuries on someone who has never been on an injury report this season. He has played every game and underwhelmed in them all. No disrespect to the kid, but I wouldn’t be upset to see us part ways because I’m sure we are paying him handsomely 🤷🏾‍♂️.

Maybe we can have another shot at what we hoped Jackson Carver would be! Looks like a jumbo, super athlete that is very raw but if he develops right can be a stud

I hear ya. Wondering if he should just move to RB tbh.

… and I still think he’s been better and would prefer him in the game than Bauman. Pretty sad.
Bauman has been our most useless weapon in the offense imo. Him and Lofton both have drops but at the very east of Lofton actually catches the ball he’s far better at picking up YaC. Baumans only real role should be short yardage or redzone…

Too bad Scott is hurt I’d love to have seen him get in against Syracuse and NCSt. Bajman getting flexed out to the slot is legit infuriating. If Schott was healthy he could be filling that role right now.

Gilbert immediately needs to get snaps idgaf

Lofton should portal to NCSt. He’d probably go off there

Him and Schott gets some real athletes in the room.

Let Lukave the blocking TE and see where Briggs fits in after a year in the strength program.

Mueller could easily get to 275lb easily. Will be interesting to see how he develops in a strength program and meal plan. Has elite traits you look for in a TE. This is a massive addition to the class and another top player out of the Midwest.
