This is the typical Miami fan comment. Find 1 game and use it as the catalyst of a freshmen season and his career going forward.

Glad Dorsey didn’t let VT make not be the same
It's not how OJ began the season but how he ended, however I want you to be right

Fair. Like I said, it's not the best or end all example. But you definitely have a point. It just seems to me like the threads where we all ***** about something get a ton more traffic where we all agree on something positive.

Probably reflective of society in general, actually. But that's a way bigger discussion that doesn't belong here.
Misery loves company

Nah you just soft. I know you definitely never played any sports with that soft shît. Who gone quit on their career because they had a bad game as a freshman gtfo
I think his point was the Syracuse game was an abomination.

It wasn't just bad by the DB group, it wasn't even SoFL HS level performance.

Now, will it define OJ going forward? I hope not, but all of them played like they were under the lights of Little Yankee and not a must win for Miami to reach the ACCCG and CFPO.

It is a legitimate and major concern until he re-establishes himself (yes, it was that bad).

To think otherwise is delulu.

I think otherwise. It’s all about mentality. This line of thinking is weak. Every athlete has had terrible games it’s going to happen especially as a young player trying to figure things out. I’m sure he is using it as motivation to not let it happen again in his training this offseason like I expect a real dog to do. The kid will be fine

Help me here gato.

What line of thinking is weak?

That the entire DB group, in fact, played liked Pop Warner quality players against Syracuse?

Help me friend.

It’s weak acting like that one game by a true freshmen going up against a group of 5th and 6th year wrs is just going to break him. He doesn’t have to restablish anything because he isn’t established. He is a young cb that is still learning and growing and he hasnt even been playing the position long

I didn't say it would break him.

I said it was was a such step backward, it's a legitimate cause for pause.

Onus is on OJ to prove it was a fluke.

Not you but the other guy was talking like the kid career was over because he played so bad

What are you talking about? OJ gave up 80 yards and one touchdown—what's so bad about that? All Power 4 cornerbacks last year, including top NFL draft picks, gave up 80+ yards in a game. Let's stop the false narrative. If you say they played poorly overall, I can agree. This kid allowed 14 receptions for 163 yards and 2 touchdowns while playing over 620 snaps. Show me 3-4 cornerbacks with better stats.

Travis hunter PFF 88.2
:Snaps 776
:target 41
:Receptions 23
: yards 222
:TD 1
: passer rating 39.9
——————————-
CB OJ Frederique: 75.8 PFF coverage grade, 14 receptions for 161 yards and two touchdowns allowed on 38 targets. One interception.
Opposing passers completed just 36.8% of their attempts against him, which was the third-lowest rate in the Power Four.

Some people I swear… OJ had a great freshman campaign. God forbid he or any other true freshman have a bad game. It’s absolutely not the end of the world. Plenty of opportunity for growth for him. And those Syracuse WRs are much closer to their ceilings than OJ.

Calvin Johnson points to going against Antrel Rolle his freshman year (Antrel’s Sr year) as his wake up call that it wasn’t going to be easy and he would have to put the work in. In his words Trel “abused him the whole game”. Seems he figured it out… hopefully OJ uses the Syracuse outing as his motivation.

Check this out: Derek Stingley Jr. got burned by DeVonta Smith for 211 yards and 2 TDs his freshman year, but he still was the best freshman.

Point is

To see if a corner is legit they have to throw his way, and see what he does with the guy he’s covering. Is he completely uncovered 3 yards away regularly and giving up catches? Then yea he’s basic. If the wr is making contested catches? Is he making it difficult? Who is the wr? There are a lot of factors man.

We got a new X though who is legit on tape so not worried

I also think this is being overblown

Guidry called Meesh on two horrific…embarrassing delayed blitzes the exact same way. It would have made Manny Diaz go “holy **** that’s late”

If OJ was Deion Sanders maybe it doesn’t matter but Meesh got absolutely nowhere near the QB on either play IIRC and with how our communication was last year I wouldn’t even doubt if not everyone was on the same page
