It’s the “ What have you done for me lately (last 5 seconds) crowd.
I try not to paint the broad brush with fans because I think most hold OJ in high regard

It’s just been some strange stuff reading this offseason particularly with Bain and this kid

I obviously love the corners we brought in but yeah maybe it’s just the Cuse game

Also odd that we get a lot of people hinging their faith on young guys improving but arguably our best player on defense was a true freshman and doesn’t seem to get talked about a lot with being able to get better

I dunno. I could be wrong

Can't speak for anyone else. But I personally was blown away by what OJ did last year and have very high hope for him this season. But I also think it's safe to say he wasn't as tested as he will be this year because the other two or three CBs that rotated in were just that bad. I also think he's got a lot more competition, will have to earn the spot. I think a fan can both hope for the best and worry about the worst at the same time.

Hoping all the portal adds push OJ to be even better the competition

My brush wasn’t meant to be broad just an acknowledgment that there are some that are shortsighted and don’t see the forest for the trees. We all have differing opinions concerning almost every aspect of our team. Some make sense and some I just SMH.

Our defense was so bad he looked elite. Will be interesting to see his role this year with the amount of talent we brought in.
Wait what??? This literally makes no sense.....

OJ has done a very good job in a very difficult environment. He'll be better this year because everyone else will be.

The skillset and natural ability is there.

^This! The Notre Hate CB was the only Fr better than OJ last year
You're basing your point on feelings, not stats. Here's the data. Moore's team had a top-5 defense, and they weren't as messy as we are.

CB Leonard Moore: 87.1 PFF
coverage grade, 23 receptions allowed for 272 yards and two touchdowns on 52 targets. Two interceptions.
------------------------------
CB OJ Frederique: 75.8 PFF coverage grade, 14 receptions for 161 yards and two touchdowns allowed on 38 targets. One interception.

Our fan base is stubborn and afraid to admit that 3-star OJ was one of our best players last year. Coach Macho co-signed him, and I live in Broward County, so I've known the kid was good. He went to a stacked team, Miami Gardens Ravens, with JJ and Jojo, and started on both sides of the ball. He did the same thing at Saints Thomas. If you can't read the room, that's on you for thinking he wasn't good.

Thanks for proving my point, Moore had a better year. And ND didn't have a top 5 def. That's not bashing OJ, just facts. I hate ND so would love nothing better than for OJ to outperform this dude and with better coaching this year I think he will.

Sounds like we're talking about a 9th year senior who just got a waiver to come back for one more year. Who's done growing and, for the most part, done developing.
I thought OJ was a true frosh, who still has room to grow, get bigger, stronger faster, more mentally prepared and have the game slow down for him.
Am I missing something?
