Great move. That was the only logical move. Likewise the Dolphin game canceled also. Football means nothing right now.

As always, situational awareness is not exactly a specialty of the masses. Last time I was here a couple of days ago we had loud mouth geniuses posting that Irma departs Miami on Saturday so no problem resuming normal practice schedule for Florida State on Sunday.

Oh sure. That's the real world. We'll traipse over all the downed trees and destroyed homes and damage in the tens of billions because we can't wait to practice our next brilliant screen pass or route scheme.

You actually had Dolphins players like Jarvis Landry whining that he didn't want to cancel the Tampa Bay game because it meant losing a bye week in November. People are going to die in Irma and Landry cares about his precious bye week, so he can take more pictures out on a boat, or whatever.

Let's hope Irma jogs just enough east for football to mean anything at all within the next month or more.
Would the Dolphins game have been cancelled if it was in Ark?

These guys are going to spend all week worried about their mamas and their brothers and their sisters and cousins and buddies.... they'll be thinking about everything except for football.

Maybe that goes for the coaches as well, to an extent.

Would have been better to get everyone out of town away from the chaos.
Yeah....now they can just suffer with them. Definitely a better option

coaches and kids have homes, families in miami. you expect these humans to leave everything behind in the middle of a hurricane and not be able to get back to their families? thats the issue. think about more than just the players and coaches. you're a jackass and go **** yourself .

I can definitely see the UM/FSU game getting postponed to the end of the season, and thus the ACC championship game getting pushed a week if either team is still in contention...real talk. As some of you have said, if this beast of a storm doesn't pivot and pivot soon, the damage will be extensive. Our team will not simply be able to stroll onto green tree come Sunday or Monday morning. Some of you soft vaginas need to mentally prepare yourselves for this likely reality, and I hope the storm knocks out your internet connection.

So if they were in Atlanta they wouldn't have been thinking about those people so far away and being unable to help them? The questions would have made it worse. Have you heard from your family? How much damage was done to your home?

Unable to help them?

You know that the UM dorms double as a hurricane shelter, right? Put all their families up in the dorms. It's probably the safest place in Miami to be.

Put em up where? Have you seen the size of the dorm rooms? How many families you think could fit in there? The BUC (Watasco?) and that practice bball court are better bets along with the wellness..

What's that got to do with this?

If the FSU game were postponed the ACC could wait to see if Miami and FSU won their divisions and qualified for the ACCCG. If so, no reason to make up the regular season game. Hold the ACCCG as scheduled.

Thin, and a bit of a reach, but maybe.....

Life is more important than football. And for you jerks that think anything else, you are not U family. You are only for you and eventually that catches up

Your thinking is flawed from the start if you assume this is just another hurricane.

This is wrath of angry gods type stuff. You don't f--k around. If it hits Miami straight on, life won't normalize for months, if not years.

nah, i'm questioning the relevance of your query about the Dolphins game being cancelled if it was in Arkansas. What are you trying to get at by asking that question?

The hurricane isn't hitting Miami. All models now show it missing.

This thing better hit Miami, or we're no different than Florida when they canceled the LSU game during Matthew.

FVCK YOU!

That particular comment by meatgargler is the all time CIS dumbfūck comment, and there have been plenty the last few days.

Wishing a catastrophic hurricane on a city so you can make a point. What a fūcking imbecile.

Poor In Miami: Hoping To Ride Out Irma On Bread And Cans Of Tuna : NPR

Eugene Johnson purchased two loaves of bread and batteries for his flashlight. Those are his supplies in preparation for Hurricane Irma.

"I'm on fixed income," said Johnson. "This hit me out of the blue. I had to pay my rent, my electricity bill and stuff like that."

In his kitchen cabinet he already had a few cans of tuna and he plans to boil some eggs.

While local news broadcasts have been dominated by images of people flocking to stores all week to stock up on water, nonperishable food and supplies to ride out Hurricane Irma, many families can't afford to do that. In Miami-Dade, about 530,000 of the estimated 3 million residents live below the poverty line.

If anyone has time. They are big mad. Game Cancelled?

It is a tough decision, but also seems to be the right one especially if we cant get back to Miami that week.

They are still mad. Did you see the hit piece their admin wrote under his anonymous account? Coward pulled it down afterward, but it still made me sick.

Don't like this decision. Over reaction by UM administration.

All the other schools "overreacted", too. except for desperate FIU and FAU, and they both are only NOW getting back home in some cases.
