Miami-Arkansas State cancelled

The decision was made this morning to cancel Miami-Arkansas State on Saturday due to travel concerns stemming from Hurricane Irma.

The team was told this morning of the decision. Sources told CanesInSight that the concern from UM's side was travel plans to get back to Miami following the Saturday afternoon game. One possibility that was internally discussed was having the team stay in Atlanta for the week leading up to a Florida State, but the school decided that this was the best course of action.

Ultimately, this is the best call. You want these kids helping their family and community. This situation is way bigger than football.

If a game is cancelled......that should've never been scheduled to begin with....falls in the forest with nobody around......does it make a sound?

Sucks to not get Rosier more game reps but now the focus can be on destroying FSU with 10 days of prep. This is just cosmic forces fixing Blake's mistake too. We back.

Almost all the local Canes are heading back home today and tomorrow to stay with their families

So... do we reschedule anything or are we just playing 11 games this season then? IF, and that's a big IF, but IF we beat FSU, what would that mean for playoff possibilities?

Cancelled. No make-up in 2017. Irrelevant to any playoff scenario.

If anyone has time. They are big mad. Game Cancelled?

It is a tough decision, but also seems to be the right one especially if we cant get back to Miami that week.

Ark St is clearly losing out on some revenue because of this. Does Miami have to pay them as if they were only playing at Miami? Will we have to travel to Ark St at some point in another season?

Playing 11 games is something that certainly could hurt a potential playoff bid, but I am pretty sure we have to win all our games anyway in order to make the playoff. If we do go 11-0, we are in.

So dumb, lets not go to a game that's away from the hurricane, instead let's cancel it and stay home where the hurricane is going to hit.

They won't be getting ready like they would during a normal bye week.

This storm is going to be a huge distraction.

The best thing from a pure football perspective would have been to get these guys out of Miami, play the Arkansas State game, and practice in Atlanta away from all the distractions.

Pete, do you know practice schedule as it stands today?

These guys are going to spend all week worried about their mamas and their brothers and their sisters and cousins and buddies.... they'll be thinking about everything except for football.

Maybe that goes for the coaches as well, to an extent.

Would have been better to get everyone out of town away from the chaos.
