I'm with you on this one. Maybe he really doesn't wants to come. If that's the case . We tried nothing more we can do. I don't consider it a failure at all. With all the other top targets at that position. We hit on 2 or 3 of those we good 👍
Miami needs to find a way for kids to stay home. I would love Calvin in this class and it’s still a possibility. I just think the original poster is overly dramatic with his take. Not everything is black and white.

Outside of this recruitment, I'm not particularly confident in our WR coach as the lead guy on the apex elite recruitments. I feel like we may be getting guys despite him, rather than because of him. We do have talent on the roster, but keep missing the game changer. KB does seem like a good teacher, so we'll see how these guys develop.

I'm sure it doesn't help that we have Uncle Rico at backup QB; 1-year rentals at QB may not be hurting as D-Money has mentioned, but it's **** sure not helping. Less ideal sell. Perhaps I'm still salty on KB after the silliness in that infamous recruiting video with D'onofrio, but I'm not feeling it overall. Fingers crossed we get 1-2 of these guys this round cause ****.

In this case, it’s not a “colossal” failure when certain members in his camp are looking for every reason not to come to Miami. This is one of the weirdest recruitments Miami has seen in a while. I understand Miami dropped the ball earlier in the year but Miami has done all they can to make him feel like a top priority. Some local people have unrealistic expectations from Miami and are impossible to please.

Mom being in the Miami HOF means absolutely nothing in this situation and is arguably hurting our cause.

KB has a friendship with mom yet didn’t even play a major role in these weekends activities. There is definitely a disconnection here between both parties. KB deserves criticism if this doesn’t work out.

What does basketball have anything to do with this? If anything, only proves he’s not serious enough about football.

If he comes then great, but if he doesn’t, i don’t think it’ll be as “colossal” as some think, as long as we hit on others.

Yup

I mean sure. But also you can't force a kid to pick us lol. If Russell Picked LSU and we got Keys, nobody would be calling it a colossal failure imo. So clearly there is some amount of grey to it being a win/fail...
IMO…you protect home! You let LSU into MNW you hella long term problems.

****! Syracuse signed 4 MNW players last cycle and you would thought they run the place.

Does that make it not a failure if they tried hard?
So if he and his family are determined to leave. You have done everything on your part and can boast having the #1 offense. Yet they still want to leave. WTF else can you do and it’s not a failure. They wanted no parts of your university.

This is the exact kind of kid we expected to get hiring Mario.

Obviously there are other prospects, who knows how those will go.

But this is an L on the entire program if he goes elsewhere. There’s nothing else that needs to be said. We won’t shutter the program, it doesn’t guarantee mediocrity if we don’t get him. But it’s an L. I don’t give a **** about any excuse. Get him, or you failed in a major recruitment and one we’ve almost ALWAYS lost for a very long time. Get it done. That’s it. No details matter. Just sign him. That’s why we hired this coach.

The failure isn't about effort. The failure is about reaching the intended conclusion which is signing the player you invested heavily into recruiting. If Keys signing with LSU isn't a miss and Russell signing with _______ isn't a failure then what is the point of having a recruiting board? Everything doesn't require an excuse, but for some reason the Knights of Mario are always here to stand guard.

Thank you. Call a spade a spade and move on. This excuse **** is lunacy.

We all agree we want him signed, but according to some in the know. He and his camp aren’t really feeling the U. You recruit to the end, but how much more convincing can you do? You’ve shown more than enough interest. Actually we all should have known it was going to a tough pull. Not impossible, but tough. When we heard CUSE was his leader.

OK. For men and women to work arent both parties supposed to show interest? If one has no interest in the other. One party ends up used, abused and taken advantage of. All I’m saying is there has to be mutual interest for us to really have a shot at convincing him to stay home.

Then you lose. What else is there to say? When we lose football games, do we say it’s ok because we tried hard and there was nothing we could do? No. You lost. This is the same thing. IDGAF what his camp wants or doesn’t want. He’s at a major impact position, he’s a super elite prospect, and he’s essentially a legacy, in our back yard. You win or you lose in this game. Nothing else matters.

Establishing whether or not the interest is legit is a part of the recruitment process. If you devote resources to a player and make them a priority and they sign elsewhere. The term that correctly reflects on that individual recruitment is failure. Stating reasons why is just a misdirection to make you feel better.

I’m used to this when it comes to south Florida wide receivers. And I pray there’s a day we win one of these battles. I think the post above is true. The kids asking for some different things. He wants to play basketball, he probably wants other things. But when money is high from all parties the kid either wants to be part of your university or doesn’t. The effort is there. Just some weird ****.

Do kids careers ever pan out well that have recruitments like that? Idk if it’s true and to what extent, but this whole think from the outside looking in is fishy 🚩

Bro you can't force a recruit to play at home if the recruit don't want to. You can say all the **** you want. We all for signing him. That just like trying to force a chic to go out with you. If she ain't with it. What you going to do? Me myself I'm moving the f@ck on. I hope he signs. But if not spend the resources on someone else who does. Plain n simple. You can't blame MC we laid out the red carpet. What more you want 😄

I want to sign the kid. Thankfully our coach doesn’t think like yall.

Tell you what, let’s fast forward, we give this kid an aggressive offer, we roll out the red carpet, we do literally every single thing we can do, and then go chill in Mario’s office and wait for the phone to ring to have buddy tell Mario he’s going elsewhere.

Wanna know what you won’t hear?

Well, we tried. We’ll get em next time. Win some, lose some.

LMAO. Straight up loser mentality. This is a results business. Not a try hard business.

I’ve been screaming this for the longest, dudes here act like kids down here didn’t grow up viewing Miami football as a joke lol .. we have to change the perception of our program b4 we can lock down every local 5 star like the LSU’s and Bama’s of the world do. We haven’t built up enough goodwill for elite 5 sfl players to blindly commit to us just because they’re in our backyard. Look at JJ smith, threw the book at jit n he just simply didn’t want to play here. Miami ain’t some hick small town city where the university is GOD to the locals, build a winner and they’ll come.
