If he will primarily play striker, I wonder if he has the foot speed to cover slot wr down field.. He will get tested on slot fades and such..

It will, as all defensive alignments and packages do, depend on the offense's personnel. If they're in 11, I doubt you see much of Carter. If they're in 21 or 12, you probably will. If they're in 10, you almost certainly won't. I don't think the design is going to be asking Carter to cover slot receivers. I'm sure it will happen, because you don't always match-up perfectly on every single snap (thus the reason that versatile defenders are the most coveted players). But Manny is not game planning for Carter to be in man against 180lb slot kids. We'll avoid that when we can, and he will most likely play more often when the offense is working with heavier personnel.

I remember him being one of our better players under Diaz. And for him to be able to execute those blitzes as a true FR shows that he is a smart player. Also we have to blame Diaz for not taking control of the defense sooner or replacing Baker with someone else. Being a Coordinator is also using all your players in the right positions that maximze their abilities and Baker was terrible. He was never a center fielder. And we played so much zone. We are gonna need those creative packages to confuse Bryce Young and their new OL. Btw can you guys imagine James Williams being used like Carter was as. FR and So? O lawd, ******.

Great breakdown. I been saying this for years on here. Both Hall and Carter should have been strikers from jump and Gil a safety. Gill was a ballhawk in HS
I'm assuming Gil will be in during obvious passing downs.

We were 8-1 coming off back to back excellent defensive performances against Virginia tech and Duke.

When was he supposed to take over sooner.

I think his targeting calls were horse **** anyway. Especially the call on the QB who was scrambling up the middle and put his head down. I hope to see him ball hawking against Baga.

Facts. The first couple calls were BS, and then he became a worse tackler trying to correct his style to avoid being penalized.

Carter isn't Sean Taylor (who is?). But he's a decent player who will exceed people's expectations this year. I think he performs well vs Bama, not concerned about him, whereas I have some concerns at other positions..

I hope we use Chase and James Williams the same way.
Moving them all around the field, over the center, and even at end will confuse offensive lines immensely.

4th and 17 v UNC. Good performances v horrible teams is horse dung

This game will come down to how well our DTs play and our ends contain. If our Dline can be disruptive, it will allow for our undersized lbs to get in the backfield and make plays. I think this line up will be god moving forward. We have to slow down Robinson before he hits the line, if not he will run all over us.
