Great news. Get in him in shape and ready to contribute by mid season.

I don't see him playing this year. Like most think he will probably redshirt this year, but be a big part of the DT rotation next year.

I think he is better than Martin and Fines and therefore I believe he plays this year. Injuries happen and that will push him into some type of role in the latter parts of the season.

I agree that Ford is a better prospect with a higher ceiling than Martin and Fines. I also think Ford redshirts unless he is forced into action because we get hit with multiple injuries. Martin and Fines should be able to hold down the 5th and 6th DT spots for this year.

Let him play against Bethune and Arkansas State so that Norton, McIntosh, Molten can rest.

Toledo, Syracuse, Duke, Virginia are also near certain opportunities for the backups to play a lot.

I don't see a need to make a concerted effort to redshirt Ford. If Kool can coach him up, with his natural talent, he won't be here 5 years. Plus, we may need him in a major way next season.

If he's simply not ready to play, then sure, redshirt him.

Ford is kind of raw to begin with and then he is coming in late.

^^^This.
Quality backups, even if it's just a big body in the middle against inferior opponents can mean all the difference come November, December, and (hopefully January and February). But also allowing our two deep to be fresh and 100% healthy on 9/16 could make all the difference in the world.

So, you agree with me?

and once again the "redshirt" monster raises his head.. So he takes a shirt, then balls out for the following 2 years and is gone.. Or he doesn't shirt, learns some things this year, then balls out the next 2 years and is gone.. Can you explain the difference ??? gone in 3 years if he is any good.

Why not get him experience this year in games if you expect him to be a focal point in our defense next year?

guys used to redshirt and then be able to start or play at high level the following year. if he's ready and in shape and can contribute in top 4, he should play. if not, let him redshirt.

Another thing with this staff that I like is how they get everyone they sign in. Idk if admissions gives Richt more leeway or he's just simply better at evaluating transcripts but whatever it is I like it.

Golden was truly a used car salesman. The guy would release recruiting news after big losses to make it look like we were headed in the right direction. ****, he used to have press conference for JAG juniors announcing they would be returning for their senior seasons. It's no surprise he'd sign kids who had no chance of enrolling just to make his classes look better

Golden was a used car salesman. However, the bigger problem was his employer was a used car lot.

Great news!

Can anyone tell me what Ford's strengths are as a DT? Is he polished? Fast? Agile? Great Burst? Help I need to know I don't know much about him.

Get him ready and get him on the field. The only reason to RS anyone these days is if they're not physically able to play at this level. That won't be an issue for Ford.

The redshirt is becoming another relic of the past.

"If he's any good he'll be gone in three years anyway" isn't always the case.

Not that he should redshirt, but many of our best players have stayed for 4 or 5 years.

I agree. NCAA rules means you can stay at at minimum of 3 years. If you redshirt you can stay for up to 5 years.

Great news. F-550 rolls in this weekend. Get out the uckin way.
