Lol if the players turned on him like some are suggesting you’ll see a team that quits no matter what Manny says.

That’s recipe for a losing season

Still think it's 100% the coaching staff?. Richt had a country club mentality around the program and a lot of these kids just haven't bought in to the idea that you actually have to show up to practice and work.

This is the Bill Murray movie Ground Hog's Day. Every morning I wake up and the Defensive Coordinator takes the head coaching job from Miami's old Offensive Coordinator. The OC was a friendly older type guy. Had succsss early but was never a ball buster. The DC, dude, he knows Miami culture. He grew up there and this time there would be accountability. A new incentive system was implemented. The first year there is a drop off in wins. Then the second there is an extra win. The third year there is yet another win leading to a premature extension. Then he @**=@ the bed in year 4 and has to be bought out leaving us broke for the next hire.

This reminds me of the stuff that Tom Herman had to clean up out here in Texas. A lot.

That was two years ago. Year 3 and he has that program locked down. Good senior leadership and self policing in place. Hopefully the same will be true for Miami.

What is bizarre are the people that do not seem to understand what coaches do.

Why do you think we have coaches? They do not just stand on the sidelines and call plays.

Why do we have a S&C coach
Why do we have position coaches

...because they players cannot do it for themselves.

It is the coach's job to get the team ready to play mentally an physically. It is the coach's job to discipline or remove those that are getting in the way of that goal. The players are not the bosses here.

He is four games into the season and he is just now becoming aware of this issues. It never should have gotten to this point. It should have been beaten out of them during the spring and summer.

They should not be celebrating in the locker room after CM. Beat that stuff out of them at the moment not four days later. You cannot create a country club and then get mad at the members for acting like it is a country club.

It's almost as though we have a lot of people who have never even held down a job, much less played sports at a high level.

Coaches can only work with what they currently have. If the current group has a lazy mentality, you sort that out with recruiting.

You want to see a meltdown? Watch what happens when Diaz follows your theory of disciplining guys who are actually the best at their position with no real answer backing them up.

Got some pretty shocking news for you. Manny Diaz was here the whole **** time Richt was.
Manny did not coach or recruit the offensive side of the team. Yes, he’s not saying it’s on one side but my guess is...it’s primarily one side.

Look, it is clearly very concerning that after a game like last week, after a bad Wednesday practice last week, that we are still having issues like we did today. Is it possible that it's because they don't respect Manny, or that he doesn't understand how to motivate, etc.? Sure, and if that is the case, we will know that over the course of this season. But, if the argument is that it's on the coaches to get the players motivated (which is certainly true), and in a practice like today's those guys are not working hard enough, don't we want our coaches to do something like we did today? Isn't that what changing the culture is about?

I don't know why or how our players were not prepared to go hard today, but to me, it would be much more concerning to hear that our guys weren't going hard, and not then hear that our coaches tried to shut that attitude down in any way they thought made sense.

I keep going to the last game when Patchan had the idiotic late hit penalty that sustained a red zone drive then stayed in the game only to line up offsides. Then I see Manny leave him in the game and put up 4 fingers to indicate that the D had committed four penalties on that end of the field.

Now, he becomes General Patton?

I can't blame the players if they are confused. Manny does not seem to be consistent.

Maybe Manny is changing but he has got to be consistent from game to practice or else he comes off as not knowing what the **** he's doing.

The Disease.

When I was in the Marine Corps, if we had Marines sand-bagging and not pulling their weight, we didn't let the higher ups deal with it. We took care of business in-house. It's time some of these Jersey's with the "C" on it take the dead weight around back of the IPF and "have an understanding". Where are the leaders?
Well said. I remember last year right after we got our first W in over a month, one of our players takes to social media to cry about "Why is everybody eating but me?!?". HOURS AFTER WE JUST WON OUR FIRST GAME IN A MONTH! can you imagine how that would have gone over in the locker room of some of our great teams from the past? Good lord.

We need some internal house keeping, and I don't mean from the staff and I don't mean people leaving. Time to lock the doors, close the blinds, turn off the phones, and get some sh-t set straight!

This isnt all coaching staff these guys are ******* cancerous and Im done giving them free passes. Its disgraceful to have hoe as kids acting like this at a school where so many literal legends that have done so much to impact the game have attended. Embarrassing.

when dsdcane told you guys "i have a problem with them calling me after that **** show saying "let's get lit"

you guys should know this goes way way beyond the coaching staff

richt man...

i'm glad we got hill

If you had three stars in high school, and now you're dogging it in practice, I would simply kick your *** off the team with no warning, no second-chances, and no explanation. You're done playing football.

If you were a 4/5 star in high school, I'd give you a little more leeway.

Jimmy Johnson style. Different standards depending on the player's abilities.

Again, I saw that here in Texas. Charlie Strong went wild his first year at UT and dismissed 11 players from the team. He ruined the Longhorns depth and in the position of OL he left them with just 9 scholarship linemen in Week 2 of that season. That was a lost season, and much like the ridiculous attrition of Miami’s 2010 and 2012 classes affected senior leadership in latter years, so did Strongs gutting of UT affect the Longhorns.
