Yearby is a good player and potentially a solid college guy, but Dalvin Cook is a next level athlete. He may never be a pure RB, but I'm not sure it would ever matter. The game is evolving to the point where guys like him can be utilized out of a variety of sets - from the pistol to shotgun to bringing him in motion - that put him in the space required. By the time he steps foot on a college campus, he may be around 5' 11" 210 with elite athleticism.

Cook is a much better prospect than Yearby. Not even close.

Dammit mane...Cook is a class away, what about Collins NOW?

How ham would this guy go in an offense like Oregon's? That said, hope he's a CANE.

Most fast RB's would go HAM in that offense

But I think kids value an NFL roster spot after college and Oregon aint gonna offer that with that gimmick they run

Jonathan Stewart disagrees.

What does it matter what he's doing right now? He got drafted in the first round.

He's also still in the NFL after 5 years.

Also what is encouraging to me is that we have the right OC to utilize these types of players. As long as Fisch sticks around talents like this will not go to waste. I would have no confidence that our previous staffs would know what to do with him.

How does this kid compare to Duke? From the limited film I've seen, he's on the same level as a prospect. Kid is as dynamic a RB as I've seen.

They are different types of backs but yes they are both Dynamic and leave a heavy impression if you ever saw them at the same level.

Some say he's on the same level as guys like Duke, Matt Thomas, etc. I don't think he is...yet. He's really an exceptional athlete playing RB. He's not a natural RB like Duke, but he doesn't really need to be because he's built differently and has a different skillset.

They're just different prospects and I don't think he's at Duke's level just yet. The unusual thing is he has a chance to be next year.

He's on dukes level... he balled out last year in the state game..

Man, I was reading an article on Cook and was reminded that Frank Gore got 2953 yards his senior season. What in the ****. I remember going to a few of those games. Wow.

When you say Duke level, are you comparing Cook to Duke now or Duke as a junior at Norland (which I think is more comparable). Duke as a junior was a great player and I remember the playoff game against Sammy Watkins and co. where Duke scored a TD on offense, defense and special teams, he had an effect in all three phases. Cook has been on a similar tear as late in the season and all playoffs he played every snap on defense while also splitting offensive duties. The playoff game against Northwestern he basically put the team on his back scoring numerous TD on offense (with limited snaps), covered the best receiver for NW (jojo, then Artie when he came in), returned a punt nearly to the house, blocked a field goal attempt, etc. Just an all out dominating performance. He did that about 4 times this year (other NW game, Booker T., Columbus, etc) Dude dominated as the year went on.

I agree he might not be a natural rb like duke but his affect on games is undeniable. He is arguably the best player in dade as a junior. He has things to work on but he is a junior with elite talent/skills

At either point, IMO. It's really not a knock on Cook, and maybe it's a longstanding bias for Duke (who is almost in every way the style of RB I prefer). We'll see what Dalvin comes up with next year.

/dude might actually be better on defense, but you have to put the ball in his hands somehow

Understood. either way Duke was/is a beast so you cant go wrong I guess it just personal preference. I think Dalvin will do the same next year, he will still have to split carries so I dont think he will ever be the focal point in his high school career.
