I won't join the lynch mob but I'm here to tell you he brought a lot of this on himself. I used to try to point out the positives and upside with Golden.....no more. He needs to win, or he'll be fired in two years. He alienated a TON of supporters this weekend and THAT'S ON HIM.

The fans voicing their displeasure are totally justified in my eyes from this point forward. For a while this weekend I could taste Petrino/Butch and it was beautiful. People are just tired of mediocrity and they don't feel Al will get us there. They are fans and they are important to Al's success moving forward. This has nothing to do with being unhappy with Golden. Im talking about F*cktards on here talking about boycotting the program and rooting for us to lose because they dont like the coach, like this dude banged their wife and murdered their mother or something. If Golden doesnt win, he should get canned. That's a no brainer. But no person who calls themself a fan of this program should be rooting for the team to fail, just because they dont like the HC. We had a defensive collapse this year, and now dudes on here have gone freaking Potato about firing everyone and hoping the team loses. Reminds me of the aftermath of the Syracuse game in 98. I always see people say stuff like that and I just don't get it. Are the school's academic standards up from when I was there in 01, sure, but thats great for me as an alum. The standards for the athletes we let into the school have not risen to the level of Stanford's though. Sure there will be kids that we don't take because of certain issues but some of those kids need to be at schools like West Virginia (noel devine) etc.... It's not like the kids we are going after are picking Stanford, or Berkley or Yale etc.. over MIami. We are competing for the same kids that Bama, UF, FSU, UGA, etc are so the whole Stanford thing really makes no sense to me. Its not as if kids aren't qualifying to go to UM and then magically start balling out at Florida.

Also if the school or coach doesn't want a kid because of character issues at some point maybe we should trust their judgement. We just avoided a major scandal and should be happy about that. Having dudes with questionable character running the program or in the program right now seems silly because I have to think the NCAA, as much as they hate us will have us under microscope for embarrassing them nationally, and will try to catch us doing ANYTHING to save face.

The issue isn't having them be here. It's having them graduate, get good grades, take a full course load. This admin treats it's athletes like regular students. Real programs are at peace with the fact that they know these kids being in college is a farce, and thus they don't give a **** or make them do anything but the absolute bare minimum to stay eligible. You cannot compete in today's game without treating the program like a semi-pro team. I know people don't want to admit that, but you just can't.

I nice guy rah rah coach, emphasis on academics, and a half assed effort to develop a proper nutrtion/SC program are the formula for getting blown out by top 10 teams. Nobody at the university yet has figured out that there are no half measures for succeeding here. You either go all in or become a basketball school. This idea that we can be an elite football team while graduating everyone and kicking any at-risk kid at out the drop of a dime is LUNACY. That's probably why they were so desperate to keep Golden b/c he represents every ***gy thing this university wants to embrace. It's sickening.

And **** you and your degree. No body in the real world gives a **** about the 10-20 spot improvement in US News and World Report, and certainly no one is hiring or paying more for it. It sickens me when there are alums who, by having some nerdier kids come to school well after they graduate, feel better/smarter/more successful vicariously. Instead of backing some stupid effort to look like some elite institution, work harder and you'll find more success, and stop whining about how it's ok to destroy what is a great source of pride and passion for people so YOUR DEGREE CAN LOOK ROSIER.

I don't think we're gonna be gangbusters on the field for a while. But there is no excuse for the 2015 class. He will be recruiting on an even playing field for the first time ever at Miami. It's a huge litmus test IMO.
