Stop it talking about players from south Florida not supporting our school. That’s on our administration not taking things seriously, look at the list @DMoney just out out kids are going places with better facilities and coaching all to get to the league. Be like Harvard stop taking academics serious and started to complain about students not wanting to go there. Spend the money UM.

I think part of that is the grass is greener on the other side symptom. I'm sure Syracuse fans are saying the same thing about kids coming here as we are about S.florida kids going elsewhere.
Syracuse is 5 hours away from those kids though.

Having a pipeline to nyc is an anomaly. However this cycle they did have some good players. Because we got 3 nyc players I believe for the next 3-4 yrs this state will be a pipeline. I wouldn’t mind going in and getting the best 1-2 players from this state per cycle if they’re good enough.
I mean T. Murphy looks like a stud for the 2020 class.

Monster pickup. I will be absolutely shocked if this kid doesn't far out-produce his ranking. RJ McIntosh clone and the exact prospect Manny looks for to play the 3-technique DT. This will be one we'll be laughing about in 3 years when looking back at the 2019 class ranked top to bottom. If he's healthy, this kid will be a starter very quickly and NFL prospect. 285 with basketball feet doesn't grow on trees. Great, great addition.
I couldn't agree more. Loved his highlight film! An RJ McIntosh clone is right! Very underrated kid. With the combination of our new strength coach/program and Simpson coaching him up, we may have a real good one on our hands.

As of right now, we can’t depend on South Florida. ****, we were getting trolled by 3 stars this cycle.

Obviously, it was a rough year record wise and perception wise as well as a coaching chance so maybe Manny can change that but we’ll never lock it down completely. There’s too much $$$ being thrown around but if we can string together a few 10+ win seasons we’ll get a large percentage of who we want.
Certainly can't depend on them right now. I honestly go back and forth between "fck these SoFl prima donna kids" and "I don't blame them" ($). So many of these kids come from nothing, and when a lot of colleges are offering cash/cars/jobs to family members, it's hard to turn that down. Particularly when they see NOTHING happens to those that accept it, even when it comes out after the fact and becomes common knowledge in some instances (while the ncaa makes hundreds of millions and coaches tens of millions). It's not their fault we can't/won't play along, and there's definitely a "don't hate the player - hate the game" component. Buuuut, all the BS games, trolling and stringing along the team you supposedly grew up loving and rooting for? Yeah, that's when the "fck them" feeling wells up inside me.

But win and we get more of who we want. And there's enough talent on our roster to win if we get competent coaching.

Him dunking a ball shows more athletic ability to RJ but he’s great comparison.

Smart. There’s no big college in New York and since they’re gonna leave home anyways it’s a good state to sell the weather and Miami vibe to
And thats a lot of kids that get overlooked. I like this new recruiting ground. NY seems to be excited about the U.

If we can get our hooks in first we may have found something.

We have spent the money @$$hole! What do you call new IPF, new dorms, new weight rooms, 4.5 million for CMR, 5 mill buyout for CMD, over a million spent for Enos? Gtfoh with that BS! Spent all that money and the south Florida little brats are still not supporting their so called “favorite team growing up”. Smh like many on here I say F them and keep the NY/NJ to Miami subway running because from what I saw in that commit video those kids up north love the U and that’s all I care about. Aaron Donald was a 3 Star with only three scholarships out of high school, that dude would have jumped on a Miami offer had we been smart enough to give him a scholarship. Tirek is a 4 star running back from NY and physically looks like the next saquon barkley. I say take him and if one of the SF brats wants to get on board fine and if not, we got Tirek anyways!

Agreed and those schools aren't producing any more draft picks than we are for the most part, still in the top 4 of NFL players if with not great on field performance in recent history.

Are you serious? Don't believe the administration or money are currently issues. As Al Davis once said: Just win, baby.

They got three players that we offered early that should be takes in Lamy Constant(rated higher than Murphy...top 150 player), Tirek Murphy, and Willie Moran. They have a stude DE there in 2021.

2019 Christ the King (NY) 3-star DT Jared Harrison-Hunte committed to the Canes on Friday afternoon following his second official visit to Coral Gables this past weekend.

The 6-4, 285-pounder is currently a consensus 3-star in the national rankings. According to the 247Composite, Harrison-Hunte is the #526 player nationally, the #39 DT in the country, and the #4 player in the Empire state. His commitment moves Miami’s 2019 class ranking to #32 on 247Sports and #41 on Rivals.

The Player

Harrison-Hunte was somewhat of a late riser in the cycle, and really started becoming more noticed during last summer after attending a variety of off-season camps, earning offers from Ohio State, Tennessee, and UGA in the summer months. In the end, Harrison-Hunte had bids to just about everywhere, collecting verbal scholarships to Alabama, Michigan, LSU, and Penn State as well among others.

The Nittany Lions were considered the long-time favorite for the Empire state product as the regional option; however, the tide began to change when UM started to put a lot of focus on recruiting the state of New York late in the cycle, as the Canes offered Harrison-Hunte and a host of other New Yorkers at the end of November and in early December. Harrison-Hunte took an official visit to Miami the final weekend before the early signing period in December, but elected to wait and sign in February. When Harrison-Hunte decided to take a second official to UM last weekend instead of his planned trip to Alabama, the writing was on the wall. Fellow New Yorkers and Surge19 members in teammate Adam ElGammal and close friend Jason Blissett played a big role in ultimately getting Harrison-Hunte in the orange and green.

His tape shows that Harrison-Hunte is a force in the middle of a defense. Harrison-Hunte is the quicker and more athletic breed of DT that UM loves, and he comes off the ball with good bend and aggressiveness. Demonstrates good gap integrity on run plays to contain the ball-carrier and is not easily out-leveraged. Uses his hands well and shows a nice swim move to get by blockers. Above average awareness and looks to disrupt throwing lanes by getting his hands up and batting balls down. Needs to put on more size at the next level to prevent being washed out of plays and being bullied by much larger offensive guards in the ACC, which will be a big jump in competition level from NY high school football. He has the upside to be a very highly-regarded ACC defensive lineman in a few years if he works hard and is coached up right.

The Class

Harrison-Hunte is the 16th commit overall in the 2019 class and the third and final DT in Surge19. Poly Prep (NY) 4-star Jason Blissett and Buford (GA) 3-star Jalar Holley have already signed with the Canes and are locked into the program. Of note, Harrison-Hunte is the third New Yorker in the 2019 class after UM started prioritizing the state late in the cycle, and Miami now has 3 of the top 6 players in New York in this class according to the 247Composite. The others are Blissett and Harrison-Hunte’s teammate at Christ the King, 3-star OT Adam ElGammal.

The Team

At least to begin the year, the Canes will likely have two senior starters in the middle for Jess Simpson’s line in Pat Bethel and UCLA grad transfer Chigozie Nnoruka, with the hope guys like Jon Ford, Nesta Silvera, and Jordan Miller continue to progress and show they deserve more playing time. Tyreic Martin is long past the point of being considered a transfer candidate.

In terms of pure size, Harrison-Hunte is the biggest of his classmates right now and is the most physically equipped to earn playing time right away if the Canes find themselves needing another body at DT in 2019. Still, Miami needs to get to the point where redshirting on the line is commonplace (absent a rare and transcendent talent), so the best course of action would be to sit Harrison-Hunte for the upcoming season and let him develop his frame for the college level. By 2020, Bethel and Nnoruka will be gone, opening up plenty of opportunity for Harrison-Hunte to make an impact.

Love the fact Miami is getting a few impact DTs
This dude looks legit

Jess Simpson has transitioned into being a quality recruiter quite well. Dude was coaching high school ball like less than a year ago and now he's winning recruiting battles in Pedo State's backyard.
Yeah man this was definitely a recruiting win rather than a “default”

I know people have been expecting this but I don’t see this as a kid that fell into our laps. Could be wrong of course.
