It's cause he plays in the Wing-T.
Wing-T is a phone booth offense.

I always question a running backs vision when he plays in the Wing-T and if/how it will translate to a different offense.
Running Buck Sweep is nothing like running Inside Zone. I saw it with Lingard last spring, in practice. He had no clue how to find the "backdoor" on zone running plays.

Great point Macho...I actually think the two are comparable, Chaney has a little more wiggle and a lot more vision. Both play in a funky veer/wing t type offense, and both have a little hitch in their stride despite sprinter's speed. Chaney's smoothes out once he get going, whereas Lingard's stride is just plain ugly, but he's still running away from kids. Lingard is basically an athlete playing RB, plain and simple (And that's not a knock on the kid)

I like that Chaney has those long legs and stride, but still gets low when needed.

Yall really sleeping on Dallas though. He's a swiss army knife. And there's been times where he's the only offensive player who showed up.
It's encouraging to read a poster that's in touch with what's going on.

The strides of this kid look Olympian like.

Glad he is an early commit.

Macho killing it in this thread. Dj dallas is gonna break out this year. Hopefully he puts those fumbles behind him. The kid has been very good for um and doesn’t have very man weaknesses as a rb. Love his game

Homer showed up in Duke too 18 carries 133 yds. So it wasn't just Dallas. Pitt game Homer 8 carries for 168. Some of you have some pretty selective memories. I like Dallas a lot too but relax a little.

Who said anything bad about Homer?

You relax junior

The reference was to "Dallas was the only offensive player to show up in some games" you referenced Duke, which is inaccurate.

No one has any idea how Chaney's vision will be in 1.5 years when he takes the field in practice. He may, as you say, lack the ability to read the blocking schemes in Enos' yet to be revealed offensive sets.

However, I will add this to the discussion. The Wing T offense run by Belen for years has one big advantage and one big disadvantage, similar to Navy's offense. This offense is typically used by lesser talented teams to great effectiveness.

Plus- defenses are not used to seeing it so they are usually unprepared.
Minus- Its a limited offense without much to fear in terms of passing game threats,so you can, and teams do, load the box. This makes running harder as you can imagine( see yesterdays game where NE effectively shut down the Rams rushing with 6 on the line). Would you rather defend an offense in a phone booth or spread out over the entire width of the field?

I have not broken down his film to analyze hip mobility, etc. I can say this- he is by far and away his teams # 1 threat and EVERY opponent game plans for one thing only vs Belen- stop Cheney.

Its not like that either. There are definitely players who are better than him if we are being honest. Right now he is RB#2 in Florida but I think he will end up RB3 with Knighton passing him

I dont know about that. Chaney is easily the best athlete at the RB position, I think that gives him an edge over Knighton given they're about the same size.

Bowman definitely is #1. Honestly he should be the #1 RB in the country and a top-10 player.

Chaney seems like a top-50 kid and Knighton more in the 75-100 range. Cant go wrong with any of the 3 though

Need to start hitting Knighton hard about joining Cheney in the backfield.

Completely agree.

How many 220 lbs backs are returning punts for TDs?

Posters are actually crapping on players in an offensive scheme that was 104th in the country.

Amazing.

His uncle just stated he will be an EE too so that’s huge for us. Especially if DJ leaves for the draft. That RB room will be stacked again. Guys we are slowly getting back to “waiting your turn” talent in that position group. Now Barry go get me some lineman to block for these dudes and we’re in there.

Not sure where his uncle heard Chaney will be an EE but Belen does not allow that much like Aquinas and other private schools.

**** no.
Chaney doesn't have the jets that Knighton has or the wiggle.

How do you compare Knighton to Dalvin Cook?

They look pretty similar to me in terms of running style and build. Maybe it's the number.

I asked him that too but he said his intentions are to finish early. Maybe pops can pull some strings. I was shocked when he texted me.

Actually just got confirmation that Belen made it happen for Tavish Rice (kicker a couple years ago) so I’d assume the same applies.

My b.
