Not a surprise. Expect more and more draft eligible players to declare when they can. Surprised we haven’t heard anything on Jaquan yet.

Bolivia has great weather this time of year....you ought to visit

Good luck to him with his decision. He had about 3 great games and about 5 ok games. His best games were against true freshman qbs or sorry teams. Sorry, but not a fan of this move for him. 6-7th round best scenario and possibly a UFA. Corn was locking it down all year (I know he's on the smaller side), much better all around than Jackson (and has return skills which can be useful in NFL which Jackson does not have) and he went in the 4th. Hopefully he earned his degree already.

Eh I thought he would leave but getting Johnson back is huge so this news is whatever to me . Jackson will be a 4th or 5th round pick and he will play in the league for long time. Obviously he would be higher if he came back but you gotta do what you gotta do I guess.

Dumb move.....this generation's primary affliction is instant gratification. ***** young on the mic move

It’s always interesting to see the level of vitriol directed at these guys who leave early. Everyone second guessing them. The decision to leave early is a personal decision that can be influenced by a variety of factors we have no idea exist relating to the guys personal life.

Miami football will live on, we will be just fine. We’ve got a class full of studs coming in at his position. Wish the guy well and move on.

Lol.

This has to change. Big time players often come back for their senior years at championship programs even after the team accomplishing something great the year before because they aren’t me first guys and they know they can be developed more. Richt has to instill this and change the mindset. He had a good year, yes but anyone who thinks he shouldn’t come back is nuts. It was his first and only year actually playing.

He needs to come back.

This couldn't be more wrong lol

CJ Mosley, Zach Martin, Aaron Donald ALL came back for their senior year.
Guess what? They were all rookie pro bowlers and were drafted 1st. Round

Ryan Anderson, Rueben Foster, OJ Howard all came back for their senior year AFTER they won the Natty. Guess what? 2 first rounders, 1 second rounder.

MJ needs to come back, still has PLENTY to improve.

None the less those are only a few guys and jnf is correct what you said is wrong.

Convincing stuff!

Would love to have him back and he probably should. However, I am not sure if he will be able to best this year's production if he did return. He did well in several primetime spots and had several analysts calling him out as one of the better corners with size. If he stays next year there may be more competition for playing time with some of the new guys coming in. I definitely think he is not wrong to consider leaving. Hopefully he thinks better of coming back.

I don't know if it's such a horrible decision. He played well this year by most metrics (traditional stats, PFF) and from the eye test put a lot of good tape out there at a premium position. He'll get drafted if he has a decent combine. I think it's much more unlikely that he comes back and plays his way into the 1st round than having a lesser year either due to injury or natural regression. Look at Delaney, he had draft buzz coming into this season but his year just never got started due to injuries.

The NFL royally ****ed college with their last CBA. It's all about getting to free agency as fast as possible and there's very little financial incentive to become a first round pick compared to what used to exist.

No one is butt hurt over Michael Jackson leaving the Miami football program. We are going to call it like we see it, he's a 6-7th rounder if he's lucky and likely a UFA.

No one was giving Walton or Njoku "vitriol", because they are good players. Michael Jackson hasn't proven anything, the criticism of his (and others like Yearby) is warranted.

I named 11 in the other thread from Bama alone. I can name 50 players from all over if you want me to. Point is you still would say “oh that’s only a few”. You have your opinion and I have mine. The kid needs to stay.

It AMAZES me how clueless you guys are.

You debate with people who work in NFL offices in the scouting department as a NFL scout and tell them they are wrong.

My gawd

Lol at people saying he will be a first rounder if he comes back. If he declares, he is a late round guy. If he comes back, maybe play his way into the middle rounds.

And I’m a Jackson fan.

I am interested to know your thoughts behind you thinking MJ has completely maxed out or that he can't drastically improve his draft stock by staying another year..

I said neither of the two. I said (i) no way is he a 1st rounder if he comes back, (ii) he is a late round guy this year, and (iii) he can play his way up to the middle rounds next year (indicating, contrary to what you said I said, that I do think he can drastically improve his draft status next year; to me, jumping from 6th/7th to 3-5 is a big improvement). From what I read in the Barry Jackson thread, I don't think this is too far off.

https://www.canesinsight.com/thread/michael-jackson/124922

I may have literally been the first person to recognize MJ's improved play and credit him. See the linked thread. I think Jackson had a solid year, and as I said in the linked thread from 10/29/17, he did a nice job in man coverage and locating the ball downfield - but it's not like he had to guard Julio Jones this year.

He has good measurables. He was one of our better CBs in run support, but that is a tallest midget in the room situation. He could improve on his ability to shed blocks with another year here, getting stronger and learning more technique.

He didnt start over Delaney until the 4th game. I need to see another year of production at this level before I take a chance on him as anything but a late round pick this year.
