Bana players take pay cuts when they enter the league

Can someone please talk some sense in to him? It would hurt both us and him. Dumb...look at Yearby, Tommy Streeter, Forston, Kaaya, etc..

I don’t think his stock will be any higher than it is now. They have less film on him and he had a good year. Honestly don’t blame him one bit. Come back next year and they will find more flaws and could have worse year

David Amerson rings a bell.... would've been a 1st round pick if he left after his junior. Got exposed his senior year dropped in the draft. I think MJ has a lot more talent though and will have a successful NFL career no matter when he comes out.

Jake Locker would have been the #1 pick in the 2010 draft, the last year before the rookie cap (#1 in 2010 got a $78 million deal, with $50 million guaranteed), he instead went back to school, got drafted 8th, got $12.58M guaranteed and flamed out of the league before his 5th year option came up.

I have seen it posted him and the coaches have issues. Maybe that is what is pushing him.
Bull$h1t. 100% crap.

So in a Facebook group this has been posted by someone I trust in what they say. So until you have something more than saying byllschit kindly go ***** yourself.

Rumor has it him Banda and Diaz dont see eye to eye. Maybe thats why hes leaving

You’d think the Pitt and Clemson game was a reality check for how far away these guys really are.. Jackson very much included as well as Norton. McIntosh is the only one with any business leaving right now. Anyone else is laughable.

We’ll be struggling at corner next year that’s for sure. Young (played 3 terrible games in a row to finish the year, Bandy in the nickel, and Dean who showed nothing, and a bunch of freshmen.. luckily they EE)

People have said the same about last yr with Corn. I think he should stay but we got plenty to take his reps and do well.

How can you compare jake locker who was like you said “would have been number 1 pick” to any of these players on Miami coming out early this year. You can’t find one mock draft that has any of these players going in the first two rounds. None of these Miami guys are going be missing out on 78 million guranteed if they go back to school. The diffence in the dollar amount makes your comparison useless. Like previous posters have stated, these guys are trying to make it to their 2nd contract. What the players don’t understand is if you go back to school and increase your draft stock and get selected in a higher round, a NFL team will be more likely to commit to keeping that player and trying to get the most out of a 2-4 rd pick. 6th 7th FA are luck to make practice squad. People bringing up Adrian Colbert example is the exception not the rule.

Terrible decision if true. Wish him well if he does go. I see him as a 5th rd pick

Exactly. I understand that some kids just need money right away. Maybe grandma is sick or something. But the way the NFL treats 5 6 or 7 round picks is wayyy different from 2 3or even 4. Many of them are throwing away hundreds of thousands of dollars and a little extra job security. Most kids who leave early and end up as 6 7 or UFA are not making NFL squads. Many will end up like Kaaya, cut multiple times and out of the league in 2 or 3 years.

Get that money Michael Jackson. His stock could soar with good testing. Appreciate the memories this year.

Did you think through comparing a potential number one pick and his 50 million guaranteed to a mid to late round pick and his several hundred thousand guaranteed, and then decide to pull the trigger on this one?

Lies.. he didn't flame out. He just took his ball and rolled out. I think 12.58m guaranteed is plenty of money.. Lol

Mistake. He's good on deep routes/jump balls but he needs work everywhere else.

I agree those are his strengths. Good strengths to have. Once pro coaches see downfield instincts and denials they think they can work on everything else.

Somebody said Herbstreit played a role. I attended the two prime time games so I have no idea what Herbstreit said on the air, but there were multiple examples in those games of Jackson effortlessly knocking away the deep balls.

These guys don't mind going in the 4th or 5th round and taking their chances. Somehow that reality is ignored every year around here. And the annual absurd counter is that they would go in the first round a year later. No they wouldn't. The kids know that. Underclassmen stack the first round every year. You are hardly a favorite to move way up the draft board.

For whatever reason this program aligns with borderline calls more often than not deciding to leave. Maybe the NFL success that we always tout plays a role. Who knows? It does seem kind of silly to brag our guys ball out in the league and then you tell kids they need to wait another year to join that league and ball out themselves. Heck, even during the Canes games they play a video of the Miami players who excelled in the league the prior week. They've even started doing that for preseason games, believe it or not. That opening Canes home game now includes a video clip of guys who did well in preseason days earlier.

You guys are sleeping on this one. His stock isn't getting any higher as he likely is a mid round pick. We have studs coming in too. He can gamble on improving his draft status, but then he has to compete against against high four star freshman. This is the right decision. He wasn't a 5 star and would need an extraordinary season to jump into the first round. It's more likely he drops.

It sucks for Miami, but I can't knock the kid. I don't make decisions based on what's best for the company I'm employed at the time. I make decisions that are best for me. Good luck MJ!!!

Not to be a **** but that first part just doesn’t compute.

I don’t care what he does either way, it’s his decision. But to talk about leaving for the NFL and making a roster is a better decision than competing for playing time with a bunch of high school kids makes no sense.

He can’t beat out incoming freshmen but he should go try and make an NFL roster?

In response to Awsi Dooger, plenty of schools play videos of players that excelled in the NFL the previous week. With that said, I think what we have in Miami is an agent problem. Sure we have kids that are in tough situations, but I'm thinking agents and their runners are getting to these kids early.

If he goes I wish him the best but it is just a terrible mistake for him.

Lol at people saying he will be a first rounder if he comes back. If he declares, he is a late round guy. If he comes back, maybe play his way into the middle rounds.

And I’m a Jackson fan.

I am interested to know your thoughts behind you thinking MJ has completely maxed out or that he can't drastically improve his draft stock by staying another year..

This happens every year at plenty of programs. Why are some of you so incensed? He has the measurable, the name recognition, and a year of highlights. He's also a 6-2, 200lb corner that runs a 4.4. Almost certainly not a first rounder unless he annihilates the combine, but I don't believe he falls past the 4th. The argument that he'll suddenly become a 1st rounder if he plays 1 more year requires that he's also better than all the stud rising juniors. That's a nice sized gamble.
