Cam Vaughn No Longer A Miami Hurricane

let's be real, the touches weren't gonna be available for this guy. Toney, Barkate, and Moore are gonna be the main targets I reckon.

Dismissed means he is eligible to play somewhere else.

Are you certain of this? What are the rules here?

I can certainly see a scenario where Mario would dismiss him if it meant that he could find his way into another program this fall, even if he had to sit out a year.

I also wonder if a dismissal has something to do with the language in the NIL contract.

If he was looking at 13 receptions on 20 targets for the season I wouldn't blame him for going. There are so many attempts this season with too many mouths to feed.
How don you figure? Now he’s going to get 0 receptions for 0 yards. And likely lost a valuable NIL package. Injuries happen. Wait your turn and make the most of it. And either way you are still getting paid. Poor decision.

It's official. Cam Vaughn is no longer part of this team.

Mario Cristobal confirmed it on the Joe Rose show, and I want to clean up a couple of things that have been floating around the last few days.

This was not Vaughn walking out the door on his own. This was a dismissal for a failure to uphold team standards.

I keep seeing people ask why this is a "one-strike" situation. It's not. This is repeated. Multiple instances of not meeting the standard, not one.

The reckless driving arrest in Georgia in late July gets brought up a lot, and sure, that didn't help him. But that's not why he's gone.

This is the same conversation we had with Hayden Lowe right before camp. Different position, same theme: repeated failures to buy into the culture, not one incident.

Where they differ is the position. Wide receiver is replaceable in a way defensive end isn't. Big, twitchy edge rushers are rare which is why the Lowe situation stung more from a pure football standpoint.

This era, under this staff, does not tolerate what prior regimes let slide. We saw that go sideways for years with guys like Jeff Thomas. That's not happening here anymore. The standard is the standard, no matter who you are.

A lot of this, for Vaughn specifically, comes down to timing.

Go back to the last cycle. We got Carson Beck very late, we still landed CJ Daniels, which was massive, and we got Keelan Marion in that second portal window. This year, there was no second portal window, and Darian Mensah didn't arrive until late in the process either, this time bringing Cooper Barkate with him from Duke. That earlier stretch without a quarterback cost us receivers we wanted. So heading into this cycle, we were aggressively getting bodies into the receiver room. That's how you get Vandrevius Jacobs from South Carolina and Vaughn from West Virginia.

He committed to us with no quarterback in place, expecting to walk into a real role. Instead, we landed Mensah and Barkate together, and just like that he's not competing for WR1, he's fighting for WR3 behind Malachi Toney and a Barkate who Mensah already trusts from Duke.

Moreover, I didn't see a real talent gap between Vaughn and guys like Joshua Moore or Daylyn Upshaw. If anything, I thought those two had more juice in some areas. That's a hard spot for a proven Power Four receiver to swallow, and it created real tension in that room.

Tension is fine when it's competitive. It stops being fine when it turns into disgruntled veterans checking out.

The culture is being upheld here. The standards are being upheld. It's not fun to talk about a kid losing his spot, and I don't take any joy in it. But there's a lot of talent in that receiver room, and now there's real opportunity for hungry players to go take it.

I feel for the kid, honestly. It's August 17.

If this separation happens even a few weeks earlier, he's got a real shot at finding a new home before the portal window shuts. Instead he's stuck in no man's land because of how tight these transfer windows are now. But from a program standpoint, this had to happen.

So where does this leave the room?

Toney is one, Barkate is two, and Moore and Upshaw are battling for the next spot. But the name I'm watching closest is Somourian Wingo. A True freshman out of St. Augustine, close to 6-1, smooth route runner who can change speeds, strong basketball background, and he put up over a thousand yards his senior year as a high four-star. Sources tell me he saw increased targets in Friday's scrimmage and made the most of them.
What are Vaughn's 2026 options?

As usual, the same morons jumping to conclusions, speculation with much conjecture about a situation they know nothing about that NONE of us will ever know the intimate details.

Carry on dummies.

As a non-paying member of this free site that provides free content, I DEMAND to know each detail, in chronological order, that led to the dismissal of Cam Vaughn.

Or is it now Cam Gaughn?

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

and now they're speculating on NIL, money, and his eligibility, lol.

Under previous coaching staffs he’s most likely still here because they were desperate

Mario has this roster where we can get rid of guys who don’t buy in and just reload

Trumpycane thinks these dismissals send the message even if you’re talented GTFO if you’re not a team guy

Manny was the only ***** to keep guys around. Jeff Thomas and Tate Martell to name a couple.

Richt didn't put up with any **** and as much I hate Golden he weeded out the cancers too.
