Still confused on how choosing Rosier is a polarizing decision.

1. Rosier never swayed from his commitment to staying with Miami, even when the odds were against him during Spring practice
2. He flat out WON the job - it's not like it was handed to him because we have no other options; Shirreff proved to be stiff competition
3. He's a competitor, a team leader and is well respected by both coaches and his teammates

Lastly - I really hope people understand that Rosier's job isn't to be an elite-level QB. He needs to be a game manager, get the ball to his weapons and not turn the ball over. That's it. With this defense he merely needs to run the RPO effectively and keep feeding the ball to his play makers.

Polarizing? Who all said that?

This was earned, not given.

Considering all the reports were that Richt "wanted Perry to win it", the vets really had to go earn this. There was no incumbent, no one was owed anything. If this is the man that rose out from the competition then I'm all for it. He's proven 2 things so far: he wasn't afraid to compete, and that competition made him push himself to be better. Those are things I want in my quarterback. Malik will win us our first ACC ship, and when hes ready will hand the key to Perry.

^This, he also gave up baseball after his first season to concentrate on football. Its going to be nice to see a warrior behind center. I don't think he looks back. Ease Perry in to cleanup some games.

Glad that he put in the work necessary to get better and ultimately get the keys to the car.

Congrats to Malik, and I hope he balls out. Go crush the Noles' hopes and dreams like the Canes are supposed to.

Yes, and he's a good all around athlete ---football, baseball player and a warrior in the weight room, which I'm sure his teammates respect. He put up that 315lb power clean, which lets you know he's not cheating the process. He's in their with the guys getting it in!

I like this dude.

I'm just so **** excited to not have a one-dimensional QB this year. It's going to be huge to have a QB who can move around in the pocket and extend plays. Not to mention the fact that he will be able to take off and run when necessary to keep the chains moving.

This alone makes our offense so much more hard to defend. An extra weapon that will require defenses to allocate a Safety/LB to spy him. Which should then leave a lot of one on one coverage situations that our WRs/TEs should exploit the **** out of. Which should then open up huge lanes for Walton and Homer.

As long as Rosier makes good decisions with the football, we will do well.

Let's go!

Serious question. What would our records be if Perry or Shirreffs were named the starter?

If richt gave perry all the attention to get him better , we go undefeated

No way around it you're an idiot.

He's band. That's 3 accounts now. I'm gonna miss his PM's.

Jalen will be back...with a new IP address and a new screen name.

THat's taken care of business, guys is like a fly just keeps coming b ack with more stupidity.

Think on this - the QB competition this year drove off one highly rated quarterback, and the guy that many people wrote off as of last year not only continued to fight but flat-out won the job. Whatever you think of his skillset or shortcomings, as a fan I'm proud to have Malik Rosier leading the team.

/until his first INT

/just kidding

/kind of

If he gives us the best chance to win then he deserves it. Perry can play when he earns it in practice

+1000 to everything you just said, which is why Malik is exactly the kind of dude you want leading the team. You WANT a guy that wasn't handed anything --a guy that had to go out and earn it, to lead the team. People respect that ---teammates and coaches.

And if Malik is a great leader (which is my hope) we are going to be working with something

how much you want to bet we don't go 8-4?

Yea I'll take a little of that bet myself. We could win 6 games with my crippled up old *** out there with out defense some I'm assuming Rosier can get at least 3 more than that.

I'm thinking 10-2 at the worst.

Do we expect him to run at all? All we said last season was that Richt was only showing pieces of playbook in the first few games, when in reality it turned out, we had very offensive playcalling. Will Malik mix it up?

If Rosier ain't picking up at least 2-3 First Downs per game with his legs, Richt's doing something wrong.

What does Rosiers ability to improvise have to do with Richt?

He earned it the hard way against this defense.... he's ready.

Staved off, maybe in your mind but a 70% completion rate compared to a 50% is not even close. Perry couldn't even take a snap under center when he got here. The QB position is more than talent alone.

Miami announced this morning that Malik Rosier will be the starting quarterback for the opener against Bethune-Cookman.

Rosier, the redshirt junior, beat out redshirt sophomore Evan Shirreffs and staved off freshman competitor N'Kosi Perry. Rosier is 1-0 as a starter at Miami, defeating Duke back in 2015 when Brad Kaaya was put with a concussion.

Rosier came to Miami as a three-star recruit in the 2014 class from Faith Academy HS in Mobile, Alabama. He truly took control of the quarterback race over the two weeks with two good scrimmages, and most importantly improved accuracy.

Sources close to the situation say that although Rosier is the starter, Richt will not shy away from working another quarterback into the mix as well.

so, Peter... just curious if "another qb" is specifically referring to Sherriffs or does it mean Perry will also continue to get some work to see his potential this season?

He'll be able to move the chains with his feet too. No more statues back there. We back.

I just hope he's more like Russell Wilson than RG III. Needs to know when to slide or go out of bounds and not take on much bigger dudes unless of course the game is on the line...

On a side note: I have Perry starting in my Dynasty.

RGIII won the Heisman in college... Just sayin

- Richt wanted Perry, but Perry isn't ready (nothing wrong with that). Let Perry develop.

- Rosier improved and proved he can be the best at utilizing our offensive weapons and running the offense right now

Let's ride!
