Please come to the U we need a pass rush specialist!!!!

If we could get a kid like this with his pass rushing skills, A we catapult to the top of the ACC imo. Atleast in the coastal side. Then B with the coaching he will get here with Franklin, it will really put him in a position to play on Sundays.

As you know the NFL loves kids from the U, ya know why . . . Its all about the U.

Get it Coach Golden!

Unless we've re-defined special to mean "potentially top-25," I think it's a bit much to say that we're one element away from being special.

We got flat blown out by two of the three best teams we played. We lost to a bad UVA team and barely hung on against Duke.

More important, the defense looked horrendous -- maybe the worst I've ever seen here. By adding a pass-rush, certainly, we'll substantially improve that unit. But there is more missing than just a pass rush; it's not like our interior line is stout against run or that our secondary air-tight.

I'd be happy next year ending up ranked somewhere 10-20. That's not special, not by our program's standards, but it's certainly a huge improvement.

This team can be special next year if it develops a pass rush. Bond can help put them over the top.

That was the thing that destroyed our D this year--no pass rush.

The last 2 years really, doesn't matter how good you secondary is if you can't get to the QB.[/QUOTE]

map,
Special is probably an overstatement, but I mean special in terms of a team that comes together, overachieves and galvanizes the fan base. A tipping point type team, if you will.

Agreed......It could set the stage for a possible "special" 2014 on the field and in recruiting. Next season is huge and the coaches seem to be trying to fill holes and maximize the potential.

I googled him, out of curiousity:

He's from Roseville, CA, which is a suburb of Sacramento. Asante Cleveland territory.

Here's his personal statement:
"I am 6'3 and 230 pounds. I run a 4.65 and improving my speed. I currently bench 345 pounds and squat 475 pounds. I am an intelligent coachable player and will do what is asked of me. I work hard non-stop on and off the field which I lead by example. I am interested to go to any college where I can be an asset to the team to help win games and also win a championship. I am open to all schools and would not mind the opportunity to travel. I want to play at the highest competition level possible. My goal is to play all four years of Football at the Collegiate Level and to earn my Bachelors in Business Management. My dream is to play in the NFL, but I would also like to be an enteprenueur and own my own business. I have currently commited to Sierra Junior College and am starting as a Freshman and have plans in the future to tranfer to a Division 1 University. I earned 1st team All-Valley Conferance and will strive to be an All-American next year."

His offer list is okay, but nothing too special.

I've watched his highlight tape multiple times...after reading his statement I'm more than sold on this guy. I'm excited to hopefully get him here. Bond appears to have some special qualities that will ultimately propel him to greatness. I would really love to see this man in orange and green.

I agree that what we need next year is a team that goes out and finally puts us on the map nationally. A team takes us from having promise to actually performing and showing the country we're at the precipice of re-joining the elite. That happens, and the recruits will come -- sanctions or not. It's a tipping point I'd love for us to achieve next year.

This guy might be a meaner Darryl sharpton. Sharpton had a better 40 but bonds explosiveness is off the charts. If one player can change our defense, bond might just be that terror on the outside!

As another poster said, " please come to the u, mr bond!"

I think were overrating this guy..dont think he will see much playing time this year... maybe in a year or two. Hes too small right now to make a major impact...

exactly! much in the mold of that team that lost to Penn State at the OB in like 1998-9

OOOOkkkaaay buddy...

From Tito 2 days ago...

Concerning Devante Bond's weight

He texted me this regarding his weight:

"Hey Tito kind of late but when I arrive at Miami I plan to be a bit over 240 seen people posting about that, I'm light right now because we didn't lift during the season at my JUCO and now I'm putting the weight back on and a bit more"

If McCord can see action then this guy could as well. Difference between the 2 is Bond has more experience. Also there is a lot of time between now, and next season to get in the weight room and get bigger. Bond just needs to have that as his main focus.

Pass rush can't be understated. It makes every unit on the team better. More turnovers, less time for our guys to have to keep coverage etc.

Our pass rush is the worst I have ever seen a team in my life. Bond won't cure all but he will definitely be a big help along with the development of those young guys.

Jeez him and McCord coming off the edge would be sick.

if he is walking around at 229 now, he could easily be 245 (good weight) by the time camp starts in Aug.

Just shows how good McCord can be. A player that raw should never see the field that early but he did. Part out of necessity but part because he is a freak. Dude could look like Aldon Smith by the time he leaves here but he has a long long way to go.
