They'd have to take down some apt student housing buildings. I guess possible considering they're old and the addition of the newer student apt housing adjacent to 57th.

The old student dorms (three story buildings that zig zag) were designed by the first registered female architect in Florida. They are considered historic - which is why we haven't demolished them already.

Honestly, all I care about right now is that we start winning ******* football games.

That's my only concern for the next 5 months. We can build **** after the season.

Yup because when you own your own stadium you can only use it for 6 or 7 days a year.

Blind leading the blind!

Yea...Track, soccer, year around practice events...I see adding a few more dates...again no place to build it

Im sure those will really put butts in the seats and pay for the costs to maintain it. Again, its a dumb investment for us. The Dolphins cant even take care of their own stadium with a billion behind it.

FAUs stadium is a perfect template for a UM stadium. Doable at Tropocal Park.

Anybody know if the Marlin's field could be converted for football?

Of course it could but there is a cost. Bring one field in and expand the other.

Not far fetched... $10 million reno to add seating and make it football usable already has been reviewed.

I dont want a stadium. Use it for 6 or 7 days a year. The maintenance alone would kill us. We cant even afford a tent and lights for our practice facility. Let the Dolphins take that burden for us. Im happy renting the field.

Concerts? Bowl Games? Naming Rights? Concessions?

Yup there is no way to make money on a stadium, that is why Colleges never build them. Oh wait?

Your attitude reflects a sad part of the canes fan base. The it's hard, so it can't be done.

I am not an engineer, I have no clue about costs. Considering they mold or alter stadiums all the time, I am sure it can be done.

The better questions is, how would we get control of the stadium?

Exactly! High School football games could also be scheduled there. International and MLS Soccer (if they bring a team to Miami - calling Mr. Beckham) There's definitely opportunity to make money during off season.

Broads.

County Commissioners ;)

You would think they would have an indoor practice facility with all the rain that comes with miami. Lights should have been added to green tree. No excuses

I know, it's amazing that we won 5 National Championships without that indoor practice facility. I mean it just starting raining over the last few years.

Where you gonna build a stadium, and who's gonna pay for it?

Blah blah blah.

I live in Dallas, and a local high school here just finished building a brand new 30,000 seat stadium at over $60 million.

Another local high school in Dallas is building one just like it to compete. And you're telling me the University of Miami can't keep up with some Texas high school?

We have simple minded fans. They believe that this can't be done simply because it is HARD TO DO. Then we have the fans who are mopes who are easily influenced by the simple minded fans. Its a great example of the blind leading the blind.

If our focus, if we wanted it, if the admin believed HEY WE NEED OUR OWN PLACE. We could do it, we could get it done but our stupid fan base would probably talk them out of it because it is HARD.

I think Tulane is a better example.

I am sure that stadium in Dallas has land that was dirt cheap and the politicians were in line with the schools WANTS.

That stadium is exceptional.

Yes, we need to be keeping up with the Jones's in this regards. We lose a good bit of practice time from bad weather during the late summer and fall. Now all we have to do is convince the alumni fballers to help foot the bill. AG's camps are already a tremendous recruiting tool, but imagine if we had a nice indoor facility to use for those camps. AG and company would be almost unreal on he recruiting front.

I'm going to make a donation AFTER we hear from the NCAA and as long as we're not hit with LOIC and a bunch of scholarship reductions.

Sadly, as a gables resident I know they would never allow that. Drop that into Tropical and now we are talking. As far as a multi-use facility.....please don't incorporate soccer! Makes the field too **** wide and the stands start too far away. Obviously if that's the only choice....oh well, but that's the worst aspect of Sun Life.

I believe this as well. Tropical Park or the old zoo.
