Sucks that CFB isn't entirely about winning, instead it's about proving your skillset to ensure getting drafted at the highest possible spot. With that in mind no top QB in their right mind will ever have Miami as a top 3 destination. We will settle on the QB market and rest assured Mario does not have the eye to select between a D+ QB or a C+ QB.
Our best bet is to take the Pratts or the other south Florida under rated guys that go off and overachieve.

dont put JB out there if you haven't even given him a snap all year. at this point, let TVD finish out his miami career. we can't afford to risk an injury to JB after the EW injury. we likely lost EW for the offseason and can't risk it for another QB esp since tvd is gone
You should stick to hoops

You should stick to hoops
why? bc im not willing to throw a kid in there for what is lost season at this point (2 games left and were not in contention for any big bowl) after losing emory to a bad injury? kid hasn't played all year and is redshirting. why throw it all away for 2 games at the end of the year if you weren't gonna use him in packages at all. just ride it out with tvd and finish wherever we do. were going to some mid tier crap bowl anyways and nothing will change that. id rather protect JB at this point than play him for 2 meaningless games.

you need JB healthy for the offseason and summer. we lose tvd which is a positive but now have to rehab emory instead of developing him further this offseason. in all likelihood, JB is your only healthy spring QB.

Talent gap closed isn't a sign of progress:

2021 we were favored and we came out flat and then came back to have a let-down against FSU. Manny's only loss.

2022 Mario gets murdered 45-3. Did FSU close the talent gap or the coaching gap?

2023 Mario looses again but it was close. Great, Golden did that as well.

This talent gap thing is nonsense. Good coaches win with loser players. Every championship coach over the last 40 years hasn't needed time to get more talent before they started producing strong winning seasons.

Mario has already missed the mark on #of wins in the first two years on what every other championship coach the last 40 years. Most of them didn't have the portal. None had stacked classes.
C'mon, we need to give Wario at least 3-4 years to accomplish what Brohm has done in his first season (sarcasm)

The only talent issue we have that’s preventing us from being a 9-10 win team is at QB, period. Every other loss is on coaching, scheme, and game management. It’s ******* pathetic. If year 3 is just more of the same we’re all checking out until the HC is fired. Again.

Mario needs to take a long hard look at the mirror, admit the real mistakes, and make dramatic changes if he loves Miami as much as he professes to.

serious question, do you think D’eriq king would have led us to 9-1 or higher with this team or would Mario have regressed him too?

There is no running threat with TVD, so we couldn’t/can’t make defenses pay for dropping 8.
The running/ball security element alone is worth the 2 obvious wins.

UNC would still have been tough in a shootout.
Better shot with FSU for the extra win.
8-2 sounds about right. No worse.

I wonder how different the skill position group looks in 2024. I’m sure attrition and upgrades but that entire group is missing firepower.

Parrish
Chaney
Allen
Chris Johnson
Citizen
Colbie
X
Brashard
George
Skinner

How many of these 10 actually come back or are asked to look elsewhere?
This is an interesting discussion. I would consider all of these guys a notch above JAG but none are difference makers (excluding CJ from that comment as he doesnt play..) so change and upgrade is needed.

RB - time for Parrish to move on and take a shot at NFL. Chaney/Allen/Fletch will be back but should be back-ups. Hopefully RB1 is between CJ/Citizen/Riley and one of them is difference maker. CJ should be minimum RB2, pray he doesnt portal out

WR - Colbie/X/George all just consistently inconsistent. Trotting them out as starters again another year, meh. But i would take them all back. WR just needs more competition and rotation. Need to get Brashard, Ray Ray, Robbie, JoJo, Carr out there

TE - Skinner is almost guaranteed portal transfer (im guessing colorado). Cam is trying to come back, meh. Arroyo needs to get healthy and solidfy TE1

8-4 was the target. Next week vs Louisville is a pick’em I expect bets to come in on Louisville. vs BC Miami should win with defense & ground game alone.

Richard looked nervous, he’s a backup CB, Brown needs development, and Fletcher might get his spot taken by another RB (Johnson or freshman Riley). Kid has no bison just runs into stuff.

Brashard Smith is the best player on offense and they don’t utilize him. He should transfer to a program with a better system. Kids can be a Luther Burden III type of player.

Laying out problems is easy. What is your solution? Reduce talent and hire what coach?

no running threat also eliminates the RPO

Every year we collect 4 star WRs. Every year they are JAGs. I don’t get it. Honestly.

Why isn’t Don Chaney the man?

It will be interesting to see how the decision to start Emory yesterday will effect a portal QB committing. A free agent would be foolish not to wonder his chances when a true frosh got his second start against your rival on the road over two more veteran QB’s. There’s an explanation but it does complicate things.

Emory missed some throws he can’t miss yesterday no doubt. Those throws combined with the outright drops and balls his guys needed to come up with and it looks like it does today.

Two starts in against Clemson and then FSU on the road and the guys from which Greentree legends are born in multitudes every year are projecting Emory as a backup. He has mechanical issues to clean up. But the toughness, poise, balls, willingness to keep his eyes downfield, ability to move the pocket, and short memory will help this kid get better. Not to mention there’s not one guy on either side of the ball that wouldn’t fall in line behind him going into a fight.

I’ll make my prediction. This kid takes every ounce of what everyone loves about him and puts that leadership, energy, and work into cleaning up what he has to clean up. Not giving this kid the keys or at least some work after Clemson given the mindset with JB and the bull**** from TVD is criminal. The horse**** play calling out of the half screwed him and everyone else as well.

Get the best free agent you can but if anyone thinks this kid won’t have a shot moving forward you are misinformed.

November is basically just A Long December at Miami, because it rolls over to the bowl game, too.

We can beat Louisville. We should beat Louisville (because the ACC is wacky and they got an L comin). Can't wait to see how we don't. Same with BC.

6 wins is disappointing. 7 is mild improvement. I think we'd all take 8 wins and call it a season, and I don't think it matters how we get there. Finish with 3 straight wins, with our heads out of *** and we are happy MF'rs this offseason. Need that head out of our *** moment like Clemson had after us and NC State where they beat 15 ranked Notre Dame. That needs to be us this week.

wtf am I talking about? Sorry. I've seen this movie before.

Well, it does- see the top two teams in the nation.

Doesn’t mean we can’t be better on offense and quarterback while still being tough and physical. Turnovers are the first issue but not the only one.
UGA has a great QB and throws the ball all over the field, sure they run the ball well, but they scheme guys open everywhere. It’s disingenuous to insinuate that they are just a running team
