It will be interesting to see how the decision to start Emory yesterday will effect a portal QB committing. A free agent would be foolish not to wonder his chances when a true frosh got his second start against your rival on the road over two more veteran QB’s. There’s an explanation but it does complicate things.
Emory missed some throws he can’t miss yesterday no doubt. Those throws combined with the outright drops and balls his guys needed to come up with and it looks like it does today.
Two starts in against Clemson and then FSU on the road and the guys from which Greentree legends are born in multitudes every year are projecting Emory as a backup. He has mechanical issues to clean up. But the toughness, poise, balls, willingness to keep his eyes downfield, ability to move the pocket, and short memory will help this kid get better. Not to mention there’s not one guy on either side of the ball that wouldn’t fall in line behind him going into a fight.
I’ll make my prediction. This kid takes every ounce of what everyone loves about him and puts that leadership, energy, and work into cleaning up what he has to clean up. Not giving this kid the keys or at least some work after Clemson given the mindset with JB and the bull**** from TVD is criminal. The horse**** play calling out of the half screwed him and everyone else as well.
Get the best free agent you can but if anyone thinks this kid won’t have a shot moving forward you are misinformed.
