If we get Cooper and Russell it def sends a message. Will they pan out? No idea. But we haven’t kept our top prospects home and getting the top 2 would be a massive win for us as a program
Agreed. I’m skeptical about this kid but that doesn’t mean we don’t do everything we can to land him. Could he be a Hykeem? Sure. WRs are tough. He could also be Horace Copeland (only taller) let’s not take that chance

What don’t people like about him?

His quarterback tape showed an electric runner with the ball in his hands. A guy that size with that combination of speed, agility, balance, and elusiveness is rare.

Every time he ran the ball, I was thinking about the Randy Moss play when he took the screen and jumped over the guys head. He may not have the same top end speed, but he moves like that.

I want him on the team bad. He has superstar traits if he gets more polished as a receiver.

He looks like he weighs 150lbs.

I won’t speak for anyone else but for me it’s in the Cantwell vibe where I’m factoring in likely what it takes to get someone of this caliber

With WRs we have constantly seen over the years guys that come in and frankly just get mugged when they get to college because they aren’t physically ready. In high school they’re just running around free to do what they want. 5 star talents need to be ready to play right away with the money they’re getting

But I’d say my thoughts on him are trending up quite a bit and really looking forward to seeing him this year he’s certainly got a ton of positives

Cuz top 15-20 national players at any position simply aren't Cane material...don't you read our board??

Like I said this is a bag recruitment. Some are a bit more nuanced this one is not. He 100% is going to the highest bidder.
Which then really comes down to the $$ value each school puts on him. I think people assume that every school agrees on the value of a particular recruit, and then it comes down to where the player wants to be, and which school has the budget.
When in reality schools place different $$ values on players. Which means that Oregon may evaluate Russell to be worth more than UM does. And if that is the case, Oregon, or some school other than UM, will secure Russell.

I wonder if CIS can understand the nuances behind NIL valuation?

I laughed so hard I snotted...

If he isn't taking an OV here do we have a realistic chance? Looks like Florida, LSU, FSU, Oregon getting visits this cycle. (not being a mope, actual question)

Why do you think a guy who has been on the UM campus for his entire life (his mother is in the UM Sports Hall of Fame) needs an official visit?

If we pay him what he wants, he will pick UM, OV or no OV.

To answer your last question, no probably not but they'll get an A for effort.

You think CIS gets an A for the effort of trying to understand nuance?

:ROFLMAO:

You have a lot more faith on that point than I do...

You are one of the good ones, you do make the effort, you do seek the information. Many prefer to be spoonfed oversimplifications.
