i like Somorion Wingo out of St Augustine.

There were ample wrs to prioritize and they dug in on Keys from Hattiesburg ms n him as the main priorities.

I like Spafford n Evans pull just need another wr to round out the class to me.
They're coached up at St. Aug too

Hmm, I'm kind of confused with the rhetoric here that the kid can't run routes, he's very skinny, etc. This is boy who can and will develop. Isn't that why college programs have weight rooms and a strength coach to get these kids stronger to play college football? We have an experienced WR coach who should be able to teach Calvin how to run precise routes to make him a very effective route runner. What a coach can't teach is height and that's what Calvin has. It's a shame that it appears he doesn't want to play for the Canes but if he wants to get away then so be it. There are plenty of college athletes that want to leave home and experience an different atmosphere.

@Brooklyndee if Russell opts for Cuse or Michigan (or Oregon), what guys with the right athletic traits should we be going after for that final spot? I think everyone's happy with Evans and especially Spafford, though CIS seems to be discounting this kid too much. We've got the height and the speed. But we're missing an electric kid like Jojo in the class. Is Wingo at that level (no idea about his speed)? Anyone else?

I listened to the Dmoney and Ariz podcast with Duasso, who claimed the kid is night and day more developed than last season. I know we have photos of him where he still looks underdeveloped, but has anyone on here seen him recently? Duasso's his 7x7 coach, so I'm guessing he's closer to the situation. But he's also the most likely to exaggerate Russell's value. 6'6" high-end receivers with basketball moves and speed are rare.

Not one of these schools including Miami would offer this kid in Basketball if it wasn’t for his football potential. This kid will likely only be on the BBALL team for 1 season if that after he sees how overmatched he is at these programs. He will even be behind PWO’s at some of these big state school programs.

His defense looks like it would transfer to D1 hoops.

I'll take your word for it maybe he is limited offensively, and maybe at 6'5 doesn't have a true position. But he can really guard based on tape I've seen. Both on ball, and obviously with that length of speed in passing lanes, etc.

Evans DEFINITELY intrigues me. Kid has all of the physical traits you look for. I'd be lying if I said I watch film on any of these kids until the reason actually exists. Only intangible with Evans I'm not aware of is the level of competition he's going against weekly. But he makes it look real simple. Spafford that speed definitely catches your attention. Would be a mean mismatch for most teams if we played him out of the slot. But that's gotta be where ideally you put Malachi. Door isn't anywhere near closed for a couple of the top tier kids no matter what's being discussed right now. Our focus is still top 3 class and stacking elite talent. Let it play out.

Even still he would need much more than just defense to warrant a true basketball scholarship offer from a ACC/Big 10 school. He would need some combination of elite basketball athleticism, ball handling or above average shooting. All 3 of which he lacks for that level, especially at just 6’5.

Maybe if he wasn’t playing football he could work on those things full time to take his talent up to that level but he’s nowhere near that now and he won’t be while playing football in college.

Not saying he wouldn’t get true D1 basketball offers but they would be for low major schools.

Appreciated as always. Top 3? That would be a more epic close than the 2024 class. Anything Mario does in recruiting no longer shocks me. But I will be super happy if we end top 10 with a really well balanced class (Coop or another top RB, some safeties, more help at DT, that third WR, etc).

2:

1. Adidas NIL players have been signing w their rival brands out of HS, thus giving unwanted, unintended notoriety to boost perception of their rivals.

2. Trying to sign all the best when they don’t have the infrastructure to give priority to more than a few at a time. This failure has been on an individual & program level.

This is y several of their signature athletes bounce after a couple of yrs b/c Adidas promises the world, but it has hella contingencies. ****, look at just a recent fiasco that happened w Cam Ward:

When he was projected as the Heisman winner, Adidas quickly signed & promoted him; however, once the projections began leaning towards Hunter, they threw a huge bag at him, & focused all their attention on him, leaving Ward in the rear view. Now Ward is w UA.

It’s why I’ve told this fan base for eons stop worrying about Adidas NIL athletes. Remember when we thought we were going to get Brown III last cycle b/c he was a Florida kid that signed a NIL deal w Adidas? How that work out? So I’ll repeat, NEVER care if a kid signs a NIL deal w Adidas. It doesn’t help their branded schools, & they operate upon attrition. If a kid attends an Adidas school it’s by happenstance, meaning kudos to the staff for recruiting them.

If U make them (Adidas) look good, they’ll be ur best friend; but, if they r not fully monetizing off u, u will be an afterthought.
I wear Adidas shirts every once in a while and remind my woman that all day I dream about ***. Adidas f*cks, imo.

6 months is a long time in recruiting. UM's NCAA ruling will likely drop between 2 days from now or another 60 days (30-90 days). I don't expect Cuse to have a good season. We will see how Nitron Stork's recruiting is holding up then. Especially if we win 10 games and Mali actually pushes and produces this season. I am not even sure what Calvin is doing today. I checked out on this one for a few months.

yea thats what i think would allow for him to log a few mins wherever he goes. HE CAN DEFEND AND IN BASKETBALL JUST WANTING TO DEFEND IS ALL YOU NEED.

Whats crazy is the kid that starts for our basketball team at pg probably can walk in and start at safety for us next szn as well. lol

Dt & safety is all I care about
