4-Star Miami CB Commit Kenton Dopson Reclassifies to the 2026 Class

Miami Hurricanes four-star cornerback commit Kenton Dopson is moving up a grade, officially reclassifying from the 2027 class to 2026.

The 6-foot-1, 185-pound cornerback from Miami Norland (Miami, FL) originally committed to the Hurricanes back in March. Dopson was one of the top overall prospects in the 2027 cycle, ranked as a top-100 player nationally and the No. 9 cornerback in his class.

As a sophomore at Norland, Dopson totaled three interceptions and 16 tackles, earning MaxPreps All-American honors for his standout play.

Dopson’s recruitment has drawn major national attention, holding more than 30 scholarship offers from schools around the country. His offer list includes Miami, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Texas, Texas A&M, Auburn, Penn State, North Carolina, and South Carolina, among many others.

Now set to join the 2026 class, Dopson’s move up gives Miami an elite defensive back a year earlier than expected.

Seems we were both very wrong. Amusing part for me is I was there for a conversation between him, Mario and several other people 2 weeks back where the kid said 100% he was locked in. 2 weeks later he flips to a **** show. Just tells you the current climate of collegiate/professional sports...

Doesn't mean you were wrong on the kid. Just underestimated how little it means when a kid says he's committed when he...

a) has a dad/handler looking to get PAID(see: Jaden Rashada and Nico)

and

b) going up against a desperate, train wreck of a program willing to go much further than you are.

Ain't **** you can do about it. And if you go chasing kids like these and giving in and spending stupidly, then you end up in the same place UNC is in now. If he's good enough, we can revisit in the portal in the future.

yea i didnt expect it...But io always sid you pay him whatever it was unc was. But it is what it is...Im petty so i would be one that wouldnt keep recruiting unless he shows the interest.
