Very good news hope the kid can come in and make an immediate

If Valentine gets in he will contribute as a True FR. I think thye are looking for another Juco and another high school DT tho. I mean i think we need that. Porter and Robinson are done after this year.

That scares the **** out of me. Year 3 is when DTs should be counted on. Maybe the end of Year 2 they can be solid.

What's with this real world ****? This is CiS bruh. We got no time for proper development.

Whats even scarier, is that we will be in year 4 of coaching regime and sounds like we will be depending on true freshman to man the trenches...

Yikes

"Conversate?" And people wonder why athletes often have a hard time academically qualifying for college, where conversing is a big part of the learning experience. Personally, I don't care if our DT's are polysyllabic or just grunt. I want them big, strong and murderous, but it would be nice if they can live up to the whole title of student/athlete.

... and why would it be nice??... u sound like ur lookn for a boyfriend.

After this season, we have the following DTs:

Pierre
Moore
King
Possibly Grimble

Current commits:
Stuckey
Valentine
Jenkins

On depth alone, Valentine should see some burn unless we get 3 juco DTs in this class.

The use of "conversate" is in no way indicative of someone being academically ineligible for college.

I agree with Lu. Counting on Valentine being a major contributor is scary. I think Jernigan up at FSU was a better prospect coming out and he didn't dominate from day 1. It just doesn't happen at this position. And lets not forget unless things change we are asking freshman to play a 2 gap after being used to playing see ball, get ball their entire life.

This is why whiffing last year was so huge. Not really this coming year but for the year after. Need Cory Johnson in the worst way. **** I would mind taking 2 more JUCOs to go with Stuckey.

Depending on Derosier, we may need 3 JuCo DTs for the 2014 class.

We're gonna be in real bad shape after this season.

I think some of you are confused by numbers at the DT position. In our current scheme (4-3) we have 2 DTs on the field at a time, we don't need to have an ACTIVE 5 deep at the position (10 total DTs), we should be redshirting a bunch. What we need is quality backups and to develop the kids...so as it stands

2014 Depth Chart

Pierre (Sr)
Moore (Jr)
King (Jr)
Stuckey (JUCO)
Valentine (Fr)
Jenkins (Fr)

Then you have kids that could play DT

Grimble (SR)
Hamilton (SR)
Kamala (JUCO)

As it stands we have 6 Scholarship DTs and 3 More who could play DT. Of the 6, 2 of them should not be playing their freshman year. I think the safe bet would be to take 1-2 more JUCO, not because Moore/King or won't pan out but because if Pierre leaves early we are seriously lacking in elder statesmen.

So my guess is if we only count the 6 Scholarship DTs as the only DTs (i.e. Grimble, Hamilton and Kamala are DEs) then bring in 2-3 total DTs but at the same time I would cut the weakest link.

9 True DTs, varying in age group spread out. 3 of them can redshirt.

2014 DT Depth Chart (Hopeful)

Pierre (Sr)
Moore (Jr)
King (Jr)
Stuckey (JUCO)
JUCO to be named later
JUCO to be named later
Valentine (Fr) [REDSHIRT]
Jenkins (Fr) [REDSHIRT]
2014 Freshman [REDSHIRT]

Which is the very reason why I'm pointing to 2016 as my expected year to make a serious run. And it's also why I feel like this class is extremely important to Golden's future success at UM.

Nice post. In other words, either Stuckey turns into a future NFLer immediately, King or Moore turn into Santonio Thomas-types, or we'll rely on a true freshman DT who is known for his raw abilities. All of this while potentially having the most dynamic offensive player in the NCAA as a Junior, a veteran group of WRs, a potential Top 10 pick at LT + 3 other 3-4 year starters, an NFL defensive backfield, a few NFL contributors at DE and a Butkus Award candidate at LB.

Yeah, so, all resources should be thrown at another JuCo DT who can save all of that from going to waste. Please.

Where does Julio Derosier fit into all of this?

Why the sarcasm? Who is saying throw "all the resources" at another JUCO?

My post is about having the ability to redshirt kids and not throw them on the field.

Zero sarcasm. Must have come off wrong. I meant the nice post/breakdown. Then, described my own frustrations with the position.
