‘26 QB Dereon Coleman commits to Miami

Miami has its QB of the future. 2026 blue-chip QB Dereon Coleman of Jones High School (Orlando) announced that he will be a Cane.

The 6’1, 165 gunslinger is no stranger to competition, as he beat out Elite 11 senior QB Trever Jackson as a sophomore and outshining multiple highly-regarded quarterbacks at Miami’s recent camp.

Coleman completed 63% of his passes for 2,236 yards, 16 TDs and 6 INTs as a sophomore. He also added 4 TDs on the ground.

He is Miami’s third commitment of the ‘26 class, joining WR Malachi Toney and LB Jordan Campbell.

He'll bulk up. No joke, Dorsey came in at like 6'5" 175. Kid was a twig. He got up to about 200 and maxed out there.

Coleman is about 6' even. That's fine. Height won't be an issue. Pretty convinced the people worried about his size haven't watched him play. He's plenty durable and tends to not take many big hits. And even though he's not a run first QB he can scoot and avoids pressure very well. Better overall athlete than Cam.
