I think our "talent" is severely overrated, but it's deeper than that; Manny lost to FIU with these players...

Gattis called several TD plays, but the "talent" couldn't complete simple pitch and catch or remain in bounds to get in the endzone.

If you can't acknowledge the impact of Mario's coaching in terms of how we compete then, respectfully, we're not gonna find common ground.
Stop with theses players lost to fiu. There about 6 players on the team that were freshman.

playboy, our OL is decimated and our QBs either can't throw very well or have zero pocket-mobility with poor judgement. The regression is multifactorial, but let's just say these players don't fit the system.

Let me also say, yes, if you don't have WRs that separate, stretch the field, and catch the ball consistently then you're pretty much done. Competent DCs will sit on the run and you're playing in a phone booth. Unfortunately we don't have accurate QBs that process at a high-enough level to overcome those problems.

I'm not sure what anyone expects. We can spread teams out but at this rate we can't block or separate well enough to make it work.

What is it you think we do well enough at this stage to compete with Clemson? If Manny was coaching they would have scored 70 and the game would have been over at the half.
21-0 6 yards of offense. I'd say the game was over at the half

Work with me.

People claim that Lane is such a great coach, but he's absolutely getting destroyed right now by a 5-5 team that lost to Liberty two weeks ago. Liberty.
Lane has 2 losses on the season with 1 of those being to Bama. Which they almost won by the way. We have been blown out numerous times this year and just had 98 yards of offense in a game.

Many of you just want some sort of fan fiction narrative crafted for you as to why Miami stinks.

Just watch the football games...it is not that hard to see why Miami is not good, hasn't been good, and will struggle to be good in the future.

Who says Cristobal is micro managing?
t the way he assembled his staff, hires the OC last , thats not micro managing ! reports from Oregon just this week were of same nature has to have his finger prints on everything. joe Moorehead ws an OC for 1 year and CMC was constantly in his ear about what to run. JJ hired a great staff and ran the program but never was over bearing......

Do we have talent? Yes.
High end talent? Not really.

TVD had some good numbers, but most after Lashlee dummied down offense and we played weaker schedule. Smoke and mirrors there I am afraid
Bre Smith? Hear so much about him, but never saw it. What flashes he had last year were results of defense trying to focus on Rambo and Hurley. He is not shifty and doesn’t create significant separation when pressed/manned up. Not to mention the bunches are not doing him any favors.

Oline injuries have been brutal this year.

The talent (people who would have chance to play on a playoff contender) I see right now are Kam, WB, Parrish (not as starter), Xavier, Anez, Lou, and now I‘m drawing a blank. JW0 needs to move to linebacker where he is a seek and destroy type (needs to work on technique since shoulder tackles don’t do the job in college like they were in HS). TEs have right measurables but need to see more out of Skinner (I hope Arroyo stays another year)

The rest of the players might play elsewhere and succeed (TVD to SMU), but do you see SMU suddenly becoming a playoff contender with TVD? Me neither.

Throw in the concept of intensity that Mario brings in and this year is a waste.

I think team goes all in to try and make bowl game, and if we do, we should use it to play the freshman as part of their audition for next year. They get 4 games to play and still maintain the RS, so no problem there. Let the people who are transferring start that instead of bowl preparation.

Stop with theses players lost to fiu. There about 6 players on the team that were freshman.

That is not true at all. There are a lot more than you think and many play a lot.

3 of our starting offensive linemen (Scaife, Campbell, Clark)
our starting TE (Mallory)
2 corners (Ivey, Couch) and 5 rotational players in the defensive back seven (Blades, Frierson, K. Smith, Huff, Steed).
1 starting DE (Harvey), 2 other rotational DL (JHH, Miller)
starting punter, long snapper (Hedley, James)
then another handful-ish of players that are (probably) on the roster but do not play whether it be due to injury or just not good enough to play (Nelson, Matocha, Traore, Ragone...plus some others I am not remembering at the moment).

That's a lot, brother. Couple that upperclassman group with the #17 composite recruiting class from 2020 that has yielded only a few starting quality players and #11 composite class in 2021 that again, yielded very few starting quality players at this point (and these two classes will be filled with attrition after this season ends)...its not hard to see that this roster actually stinks - it has lot of bad Ls and poor performances under their belt. At some point, what you see on the field is very obvious that we are deficient in many ways.

This is not to absolve coaching, we can have two separate discussions, but the roster construction seems like a pretty obvious shortcoming in this program.

Yes, we clearly dont have the talent to beat Clemson. But, I think its more that Manny recruited weak minded guys. These players just aren't buying into what Mario is trying to build at Miami. They just don't seem to care or want to put in any effort. There are only a few guys on this roster that actually seem to give a **** (Kitchens, Jackson, Taylor, bissainthe, Young). Our problems are more than just talent and scheme. It is becoming evident that we have had a terrible culture the lest 10-15 years

I agree we don’t have the talent most think, I also don’t agree with the blowout losses. We lack talent but the coaching sure isn’t helping
Just think if Restrepo had that long pass , that sideline pass and we didn’t have all those penalties, we would have been in the game and a feeling we can will.

But we couldn’t connect

We had the same players last season, lol. Nevermind…
Outside of Mallory who else has consistently played?
No continuity on OL, QB, WR, RB

Not sure how we were going to be replace the yards and td’s from last year.
Knighton - injury , fumbles
X- I love the guy but no way he was going to replace Rambo#’s
QB - TVD hurt because of the OL. OL letting defenders thru unblocked . Other QB’s missing reads.
IMO the injuries and inconsistencies on OL cost us a lot of points. They can’t open lanes, hold blocks and can’t pick up blindside blitzes. Cost us TVD and almost cost is Garcia.

Yeah, that's on THIS YEARS coaching, because they had the mindset last year to be competitive and win those games, so you can't blame that on last year's staff. That is a slap in the face to guys like Rhett Lashlee who wouldn't dare roll out an offense like this,. This team is worse than last years in all facets of the game.
the legend of lashlee
