Tier 1
- Miami, Ohio State, Oregon

Tier 2
- Notre Dame, aTm, Indiana, PSU, Texas, Georgia, Bama, Ole Miss, Tennessee

Tier 3
- Iowa State, Texas Tech, Missouri, Oklahoma, Michigan, LSU, Vanderbilt, USC, Illinois, FSU

Tier 3.5
- South Carolina, Utah, BYU, Louisville, TCU, Arizona State, Georgia Tech, Nebraska, Miss St, Auburn, Iowa

Teams that could have been higher but may have given up on the season
- Clemson, Arkansas, Florida
I didn’t watch Indiana this weekend (bc I refuse to buy a peacock subscription for the tier 3 b1g game that’d be on my 6th screen), so my take is uninformed.

But consider me skeptical that Indiana is a tier 2 team. They simply don’t recruit at the same level as those other schools. It’s a down Illini team they beat up on.

Let’s see what they do vs Oregon and Penn state. Cig is an ******* and I think teams that are capable will run it up on him. So even close Indiana losses in those games will impress me.

Get out with the GT **** lol I wish we played them in the regular season. They’ll probably go 9-3/10-2 because of a weak *** schedule. But they’re no better than last years team imo. Another Haynes King injury away from being 7-5

I think they’ve just played good teams. Defensive line isn’t a super-talented unit but will end up above-average. Back-seven talent is really good and they always have great coaching and character.

I’m betting on track record with that group.

Disagree with the coaching piece. Chris Ash stinks and I said it all off-season. I think they’re a good team, I just don’t think they’re top 5. If they play on a neutral tonight against OU (obviously Mateer needs to be healthy), Ole Miss, A&M (beat them in South Bend), Miami, taint, Oregon, Bama, UGA, maybe even Indiana and Texas….i like them all over ND. You said it, that DL is bad. Secondary is fine but not good enough to mask the DL deficiency. I want them to be top 5 and smash everyone going forward because it helps us, but I don’t see it with them.

Indiana supposedly recruited a better OL this year and their QB is an NFL prospect so I gave them tier 2 respect.

By just computer numbers they are a tier 1 team but I agree that they are a freeze point style team with an offense that won't work the same against the talent on Ohio State and that inflates itself by beating up weaker talent by a lot.

Agreed. The Illinois blowout does nothing for me because I think they’re actually a fraud and yes I know they just beat USC but I think USC is a fraud as well.
Indiana’s got some games to impress. We’ll see how they do.

Go ahead and list yours below. I’m doing this more as a power ranking than a resume comparison, as it’s a long season and it's early. Anyway, here's my list:

1. Ohio State- To be the man, you’ve got to beat the man. They reloaded their defense, with OLB Arvell Reese looking like one of the best players in America. They’ve also found a young star in true freshman RB Bo Jackson. My main question is QB Julian Sayin. He’s smart and accurate, but also inexperienced with average physical tools across the board. How will he perform against the best defenses in the playoff?

2. Oregon- Their OL held up well against Penn State and QB Dante Moore looks like a future first rounder. Like Ohio State, they have talented true freshmen at RB and a balanced team. Their issue is experience- they're relying on a lot of young players and transfers from low-level schools. But it didn’t hurt them in a hostile environment on Saturday.

3. Miami- As Nick Saban said, Miami is the most complete team in America. Experienced QB, great running game, elite pass protection, reliable pass-catchers, good run-stoppers, the best pass-rush combo in America, and corners who can play man coverage. But I’m in prove-it mode until they show they can sustain success.

4. Texas A&M- This has been the most surprising team to me. QB Marcel Reed is better than I thought and, unlike Auburn, they're getting a ton of production from their explosive transfers outside. The whole team is solid- best OL in the SEC, good running game, big-play speed with WRs KC Concepcion and Mario Craver, and a stingy defense with NFL talent. Their schedule is brutal, with a tricky stretch coming up (MSU, UF, @ARK) and then three monster road games in the second half (@LSU, @Mizz, @TX). If they get through that gauntlet with a playoff-caliber record, they're going to be a tough out for anybody.

5. Notre Dame- Again, this is my personal power ranking and not a resume ranking. And Notre Dame may need some help to make the playoffs with no resume-building games left on the schedule. But this is a team that gets better over the year and they're about to go on a massive run. QB CJ Carr looks like the real deal, they have tough and smart kids all over the field, their running backs are excellent and they have as much back 7 talent as any team in America. I expect them to be a Top 5-caliber team the rest of the way.

I would rank it just like this

I was at the ND/A&M game, basically field level. The speed of Craver and Concepcion is striking in person. Those dudes are absolute blazers. I agree that Reed is a quality QB and personally think he started playing pretty well the latter portion of last season. A&M is very good and Elko can coach (as can his protege Clark Lea). ND is also quite good, especially offensively, but as others have mentioned Chris Ash is pretty terrible.

Ohio State-Best overall defense in college football, best WR in CFB, young, accurate QB, and lots of depth.
Oregon-Most explosive offense, with a good QB, very solid on defense as well.
Miami-Balanced, probably best Oline/Dline Combo, along with a veteran QB and reliable pass catchers.
Texas A&M-Stinging defense, with explosive playmakers on offense, also a QB that can make plays with arm and legs
Ole Miss-Their defensive front looks good, still looks like a Lane Kiffin team offensively

Agree w the TAMU take, and crazy thing is Reed has legitimately overthrown KC/Craver probably 5 times this season on what would have been 50+ yard TD’s every time.

How about I have my opinion & everyone else can have theirs?

Or was there a memo I missed where what I think is supposed to be pre-approved by the hivemind?
