Your Top 5 teams in America right now

I think they’ve just played good teams. Defensive line isn’t a super-talented unit but will end up above-average. Back-seven talent is really good and they always have great coaching and character.

I’m betting on track record with that group.
Agree to a certain point, but also believe their schedule going forward is weak & will ultimately make them appear better than they are. Don’t see them being tested while a number of the ranked teams will be knocking each other off.

Clear? Meh

And this is coming from someone who bet UGA. Was a pretty even game tbh. Bama was I think 13/19 on 3rd down. Can’t say you clearly beat someone when you can’t get them off the field all night. They ran 20 something more plays.

20+ more plays and nothing to show for it. As I said they were given 3 free points. UGA dropped a wide open TD and didn’t take an easy 3.

You are correct that 3rd down won Bama the game. Simpson simply got hot in the 1st half. Then Kirby shut that **** completely down in the 2nd half.

What about Ryan Williams dropping a wide open TD too? It’s all good, I saw two pretty evenly matched teams but it’s September. If you think UGA is top 5, we got plenty of time to figure it out. I just don’t see how you can say that when they lost a non-fluky game at home 2 days ago, but Taint lost a home game as a 3 TD favorite last thanksgiving and proved to be the best team so who knows?

Your last sentence is why I don’t overreact based on one game. BTW the Bama vs Kirby thing is real.

Go ahead and list yours below. I’m doing this more as a power ranking than a resume comparison, as it’s a long season and it's early. Anyway, here's my list:

1. Ohio State- To be the man, you’ve got to beat the man. They reloaded their defense, with OLB Arvell Reese looking like one of the best players in America. They’ve also found a young star in true freshman RB Bo Jackson. My main question is QB Julian Sayin. He’s smart and accurate, but also inexperienced with average physical tools across the board. How will he perform against the best defenses in the playoff?

2. Oregon- Their OL held up well against Penn State and QB Dante Moore looks like a future first rounder. Like Ohio State, they have talented true freshmen at RB and a balanced team. Their issue is experience- they're relying on a lot of young players and transfers from low-level schools. But it didn’t hurt them in a hostile environment on Saturday.

3. Miami- As Nick Saban said, Miami is the most complete team in America. Experienced QB, great running game, elite pass protection, reliable pass-catchers, good run-stoppers, the best pass-rush combo in America, and corners who can play man coverage. But I’m in prove-it mode until they show they can sustain success.

4. Texas A&M- This has been the most surprising team to me. QB Marcel Reed is better than I thought and, unlike Auburn, they're getting a ton of production from their explosive transfers outside. The whole team is solid- best OL in the SEC, good running game, big-play speed with WRs KC Concepcion and Mario Craver, and a stingy defense with NFL talent. Their schedule is brutal, with a tricky stretch coming up (MSU, UF, @ARK) and then three monster road games in the second half (@LSU, @Mizz, @TX). If they get through that gauntlet with a playoff-caliber record, they're going to be a tough out for anybody.

5. Notre Dame- Again, this is my personal power ranking and not a resume ranking. And Notre Dame may need some help to make the playoffs with no resume-building games left on the schedule. But this is a team that gets better over the year and they're about to go on a massive run. QB CJ Carr looks like the real deal, they have tough and smart kids all over the field, their running backs are excellent and they have as much back 7 talent as any team in America. I expect them to be a Top 5-caliber team the rest of the way.

Who are your Top 5 teams after five weeks?
Miami has dominated, really beat them up physically, all 4 teams so far though it hasnt shown on the scoreboard. Beck has played from avg to good. If we are in the playoffs and are losing the turnover battle, you think this team can come from behind?
i had 100% belief last years team could and 100% belief the defense would lose the game. This year i cant see beck coming from more than 14 points behind.

Don't think we're a true national contender at this point unless Beck ups his play. I was out of the country and missed the UF game but have watched some of it on replay, I think that elbow is still giving him issues and I have concerns for his decision making. I watched a lot of UGA last year and he had several awful INTs. I still see this as being an issue.

Notre Dame had some Mark Guidry like issues with Chris Ash, players absolutely confused. We made it easier on them with how conservative we were. This week they greatly simplified their defense and played well. They will likely win 10 in a row, and if Miami and A&M standup, they will be in the playoff. They know they need style points, so bet them. They will be trying to run it up. They faked a punt up 4 TDs against Ark. 🤣

TAMU is dangerous IMO. They have 2 absolute freaks out wide and a QB that can get hot and beat you with his legs, a good running game and a lot of talent on defense, although their CB play is a ? based on what I’ve seen. Oregon and OSU are 2 of the 3 most talented teams in the country by far and should be considered the favorites. Ole Miss lacks the hogs on defense for me to trust them to be a serious contender, but they can play with just about anyone. I’ll know a lot more about us after Saturday. I think we can play with anyone too, due to OL/DL and ability to control most games but I still worry about our lack of explosiveness on O and don’t know if we can handle a legit passing attack yet. Miss me with the UGA and Texas stuff, at least based on what we have actually seen.

A&M can beat anyone if Reed is healthy. They have a great HC, a speedy offense, and a steadily-improving QB.

Their defense is vulnerable, but they always have a shot to win (again, if Reed is healthy).
