Your Top 5 teams in America right now

Again, I call it the "look test", you call it the "transitive property", whatever you want to call it, it's all we have as there are too many teams, too few games, and non-uniformity in scheduling so it can't be determined on the field unfortunately. It's why there is a playoff committee, why there are multiple votes for rankings, etc.

And frankly, looking at your ranking, wins and losses must not work in college football either, but like I said, great job being the contrarian and making an interesting convo.

It means something if you beat a team way worse than someone else. For example, if Miami loses a tight game to someone and finishes with the same record as Alabama, anyone with any common sense would look at the common opponent, FSU, and say, "Alabama got whooped by FSU, while Miami rolled them."

I look at Texas this way. They are not that good. Why did Ohio State, if they are the best team in the country, struggle with them so badly? Comparisons are ALL we have in college football. I see what Florida did to Texas and ask, "Why couldn't Ohio State do that?" Then I ask myself, "How did Miami hold UF to 141 total yards, and no one else can?" We compare results, period. We have to. How else can we come to a logical conclusion?

It’s the old notion of the transitive property rarely applying in college football. It’s a week to week sport and straight line comparisons just don’t work. It’s just like trying to look at schedules and pencil in wins and losses. Doesn’t work. If Bama played FSU next week they’d gas can them, but for that one day FSU got them. There’s a million of those scenarios every season.

It’s a weird sport and **** happens.

If it's just rankings and not power ratings and we're talking this year so osu doesn't get bonus points for winning last years title with a completely different team....

Miami
Indiana
OSU
Texas A&M
Bama
I have the exact same 5 just in this order
1 Ohio state
2 Miami
3 Texas a&m
4 Indiana
5 Alabama

1. Indiana (best resume)
2. Miami (wins starting to look not as nice)
3. OSU (who have they beaten that's good?)
4. Alabama (wtf happened week 1?!?!)
5. TT (don't look now but might run away with b12)
Not sure how you concluded Miami wins not looking so good. The ND win looks better and better and SoFla solid. Noles and UF go the other way. So I'd call it neutral

If we call the FSU team that keeps beating itself the B team, then the FSU A team is undefeated and has to be top 5

Updated Top 5 (power ranking not resume):

1. Ohio State
2. Miami
3. Texas A&M
4. Notre Dame
5. Indiana
