This lawsuit and payment had nothing to do as to whether or not the girl was raped or not. The lawsuit was against FSU for title IX violations. Basically, FSU did not follow federal law by investigating the rape allegations at the time they were made. If this lawsuit proceeded, FSU would most definitely lost the case. They would have had to pay out millions to the Feds for violations of the Title IX law as well as being put on probation from the feds for the violations.

The fact that the lawyers got 66 percent however, is kind of BS. But on the other hand, they did the work without any guarantee of getting paid.

It would probably cost them 5million dollars in legal fees and more in bad publicity... cheaper to pay 950k and end it.

Get rid of all lawyers and let judges decide, wtf are we paying them for? The tax payers should not have to pay for this, the people who are responsible for letting this happen should pay.
