hmmm....interesting. James has played and I haven't heard that he was injured. I thought that disqualified players from being redshirted.

Seriously, how is Bruce not named here. Is the expectation that he will be back before the end of the season and able to contribute? Is it that they will apply for a medical red shirt late if he is unable to contribute later? Is that even possible?

Jamie Gordinier (apply for 6th year)
George Brown (find an injury at LSU and apply!!!!) lol

Bruce is bionic so they are just replacing the bad bionic leg with version 2.0

Porter updated the article and it now includes Bruce as redshirting.

If he reads this thread again, he might figure out that Jeff James already played. So if he hasn't suffered a season-ending injury he's not eligible for an automatic RS either.

Porter can re-edit his last edit. BE FIRST, MATT!!!! Even if you're providing bad info, just be first!

I'm not super familiar with the rules but can't you get redshirted if you play under a certain number of plays in the first three weeks? Like, playing one or two snaps doesn't automatically burn your redshirt?

This debate has been on message boards for years , I don't know where people get the whole " it's about the percentage of plays and games ". That's absolutely false , always has been. One play and you're finished, that's the technical rule.

There's been exceptions where kids literally played one play in a blow out and the NCAA gave in, but you have to petition.

I had a friend who played at UF in the 90's, he played one play on st's in a seventy point win, he had to petition and go through **** to get another year . That's more the exception than the rule.

That's a medical rs

Think of it like this to keep it as simple as memorable as possible: Play 1 play, and you're no longer entitled to the automatic RS. The only way you can get that 1 automatic RS season is if you don't play a single snap.

If you play a single play, you have to suffer a season-ending injury to RS. There are no exceptions to that rule that I've seen. If guys have gotten away with playing during a game and still received a RS without a season-ending injury it's because their school snuck it past the NCAA by lying about participation.

Porter said it so it must be right.

They actually let Porter make the final call on things like this in exchange for him not reporting minor violations to the NCAA. It's not ideal but something Rick was willing to work around.
