You can blame Gattis, but it’s Mario

This is my favorite part in the movie where "everyone" knew Gattis was cheeks

Problem is when you do that then they leave after a year or 2 after having success. That's the problem with hiring a CEO HC, he always has to get the hires right. If you hired a Lane Kiffin type HC no matter what happens with the OC you will be fine on offense because they are just running lane's playbook.
Lane also has a knack for putting together great coaching staffs. His staff at FAU was a great example of that. Look at the guys who were young on that staff and are now onto bigger jobs (Briles, Weiss to name a few) guys who had coached for years in the SEC all over that staff.

Let’s say for argument sakes that you are right. Mario is not the answer.

Do you actually think after one season that the University of Miami is going to fire Mario? No chance. None. Zero. Zippo. Nilch.
Both can be correct, right? He’s definitely not going anywhere for 5-6 years, unless more sub 500 seasons are coming up.

Totally agree 10000% Mario has to take the blame for everything here. He wanted it his way with all the control and except for recruiting he has fumbled every aspect of coaching. The guy is a total disaster.

Can anyone explain Mario's affinity for pro style ball control, power running game? He didn't exactly play on that balanced of an offense here for that era. He played with Craig Erickson and Toretta, Lamar Thomas, Horace Copeland, Randall Hill, Kevin WIlliams, etc. and he never played with a 1,000 yard rusher here. For that era Miami slung the ball around with the best of them.

Great question

I blame the players.

Gattis ain’t going anywhere. He’s staying. It’s clear that Mario and his staff believe they have a major personnel issue and that these players can’t run this offense.

We have a talent deficiency on offense compared to recent years, but it’s not as bad as we are performing. On the other side of the ball, it’s a talent and tackling issue. It’s quite clear, there’s multiple blown assignments every game and we aren’t consistently getting ball carriers down at first or even second contact.

I’m expecting a major roster overhaul. So we’re going to be stuck with Gattis next year and we will find out the answer as to who is at fault.
